Long time member who has been reading and doing my thing without posting much. Attached is a schemmatic I developed for a CSiA6 from mine. I have had it about a year in anticipation of getting an AV receiver in place of my older stereo receiver. I bought the CSiA6 to go with the older (20 years) RTA 11T towers I have had since new which I modified to RTA 11TL a few years back using the RDO 198 tweeters, Sonic Cap capacitors and Mills resistors. A am now wanting to mod the CSiA6 to more closely match the RTA towers. For those of you that have modded the CSiA6 is what I have correct. I noticed on some of the pictures on the VR3Mods website for the CSiA6 that in either the low pass or high pass section there are actually two resistors instead of one. Is this a modification some are doing to the corssover in addition to replacing the capacitors and resistors?
Receiver - Sony STRGX10ES
Mains - Polk RTA11T
Center - Polk CSiA6
Surround - Polk

    Hello!

The resistors are wired in parallel to achieve the correct value! It is not changing the value from the original! :)

    Thanks

If you wire the 2 x 1ohm resistors in parallel aren't you actually lowering the resistance?

Also, can we start a Sticky of schematics for the newer models like RTiAs?

    VR3,

With regards to the CsiA6 , do you know off hand which size inductor goes with the TW network and which goes to MWs? One is a smaller air core and the other looks to be a larger metal core. What is the general rule with inductors and which circuits they can usually be found in for future reference?

Small inductor is tweeter, no general rule but in the case of most Polks the smaller air core inductors are the tweeter inductor.

The schematic posted by the OP is 100% correct.

Although the two use the same tweeter/drivers, they have different cabinet volumes and very different purposes, hence the different crossover designs and values. The one driver in the CSiA6 reproduces a limited frequency range.

Yes. Per some one I spoke to (4-5 years ago) @ Polk, one of the mids LP'd @ 3.8Khz the other* @ 1.5 KHz.
Exactly how that works** I'd love for some one to explain it SIMPLY to my feeble brain.
** I've studied the XO schematic - it's beyond me (LOL!)

    Thnx, Tony

Someone w/more XO savy than me explain how this is possible:

    CSiA6 tweet XO @ 2.2khz*
    w/paralleled 12uf & .47uf caps in series
    Versus
    RTiA1 tweet XO @ 1.8khz*
    w/paralleled 9uf & .47uf caps in series**
    * per web site
    ** I've seen the XO

    Thnx, Tony

Why are you trying to compare two speakers, the CSiA6 and RTiA1, with entirely different cabinet volumes, different driver configurations and entirely different purposes? Of course, the crossovers are not going to be the same, why would they be!?!

    Valid Question.
I wanted, & got, a plausible explanation how 9uf & 12uf, respectively, could provide lower versus higher XO points.

Also I now vaguely grasp how the 'A6 MW XO gets it done. Further it appears, below 1Khz, the MWs are 4 ohms.

    Kevin Thnx for your trouble
