Cables and plug for my Monitor setup

I just ordered a 5.0 set from the monitor II series. Now it is time to order the banana plugs and the speaker wire so they arrive at the same time :). I have never done this, so could you please tell me if these are good choices:

1) Closed Banana plugs:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=104&cp_id=10401&cs_id=1040115&p_id=2801&seq=1&format=2

Do I order 5 pairs -- basically to connect to the AVR and then for the speakers use bare wire?

2) Speaker wire - 100ft 16 AWG
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10239&cs_id=1023903&p_id=2793&seq=1&format=2

My room is 17 x 13 so I think 50ft wont be enough.. thus going to the 100ft spool

Your doin good! Might want to order 10 pairs of nanners,as its easy to plug, and unplug on the back of the speakers as necessary! And I would bump the gauge up a notch for a few extra bucks!http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10239&cs_id=1023902&p_id=2791&seq=1&format=2

Do I really need the 14AWG for my small living room?

Also, what about a sub cable. I do not have it yet, but since I will be ordering from monoprice might as well get the RCA cable needed. I guess something like this: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10236&cs_id=1023603&p_id=2680&seq=1&format=2

So mediabridge cable is better than the monoprice one?

saw a friend have trouble with a monoprice product(bananas) and decided against it, im sure not all their products are with problems, and this was probably an isolated incident, but it left a bad taste in my mouth

Its the Denon 1912 - 90 watts per channel

    http://usa.denon.com/us/Product/Pages/ProductDetail.aspx?CatId=StreamingMedia(DenonNA)&PId=AVR1912(DenonNA)

Does that matter what AWG cable to get?

i just bumped to 11 from 14 with my yamaha rx-v371(80Watts) and it made a huge difference, and thats with cheaper wire and a cheaper receiver with cheaper speakers, soon i will have my rti4s and my B&W rock solid monitors, and bumping up the the rx-v573, not a huge upgrade but enough of on e for now, i would suggest the best wire you can afford, try the canare 411s, search on ebay and buy premade from legit cables, phenomenal value

I have those nanners, but expect them to arrive in three weeks. They do not like the canare, but you can make it work.

AZ, no you don't need 14 gauge wire in that room. It appears that the longest run might not be more than about 15', which 16 gauge is more than enough for. For accurate info on speaker wiring, including suggested gauges, study this excellent explanation.

Hi JOhn, thanks. Well, I am getting mixed advice here. Yes, my room is not huge, and I thought I can do higher gauge.. but most people in my thread are saying at least 14 AWG if not 12 AWG. As a first timer you are not making it easy :))
