I am very lucky, i have a retired macintosh , parasound field tech thats works on my vintage equip. locally he's been working on vintage gear since before it was vintage.LOL bout 40 years . He did my HCA1200 and my hca 800ll and many other pieces ive had in the past. He is fantastic and has connections with a lot of the old audio engineers of the day and comes up with some real neat designs for mods and upgrades.

What is DIC's? Which op-amps are you using and what caps are you replacing?

That price is just a few bucks more than i paid for mine. I got it here from a fellow polkie at a very good deal so i love the unit so i dont think its too high. I have never seen another one for sale to compair though. 600 's go for the mid 250.00 range lately so 300.00 not stiff in my opinion.it sold mew om the day for around a grand whicch was a ton in the early ninetys.

The DIC is basicly a pin socket soldered in place where the original opamps were so i can switch out opamps later if i want by just pulling them out and plugging in mew ones, kind of like tube rolling just with opamps. He's useing the top burr brown ic's and i cant think of the name on the opamps and caps. Will have all that tomorrow. He has done a couple of months research on it so i trust his judgement.i will post the details and picts when done, should be done twes. night. He has done a couple of 600's recently one for a friend of mine and he is thrilled.

I just call it a solderless socket. He should be using the OPA 627 by Burr Brown. What caps are being replaced and with what type?

The 700 is certainly a worthy candidate for a cap upgrade and refreshing due to age.The machine pin sockets are a good idea and there are a number of premium opamps that should work well in it.

I will get that info tomorrow when i drop it off at his shop. I feel very safe in his hands.i have known him personaly and proffesionaly for over 6 years and he has done wonders for my equip. and all i have refered to him.i usually just call him and say ive got this piece of equip. and ive read about this or that mod, semd him the threads amd he reserches it through his sources and makes recomendations and tells me what it will cost and i say ok do it. When he gets all the parts together he calles me and i drop it off and its done. I trust him and his knowledge explicitley and have never been disappointed. But i will get all the details tomorrow and post it all, will have him take picts of the process to post as well.
