new C/L find

Lately the pickings at both Goodwill and other thrift stores has been very disappointing. I saw an add on C/L for
a pair of ADC303x speakers for $35,call up the guy and meet up w/ him.The speakers sounding good for the time I was there and since both the grills and cabinets were a little worn he did come down in price. I asked him what his tunes were and he shows me a pair of gigantic Von Schweikerts that were bigger than some refrigerators and got a good laugh at that.The 303s seem to have 8'' cloth doped woofers w/ a single tweeter in a design very common to AR 2s.At
home through my 2-chl they are singing and again now the Infinitys are my forgotten step children.The Niles
speaker selector at $20 was the best investment made so far.With time and the refoam kit the Bose 601s were worth bringing back to life ,these w/ only the $25 outlay seem to be a bargin.

What did you find so humorous about the VonS's? I suppose your hodge-podge of speakers are more serious.If you can't hear a difference, don't waste your money.

Those on the right seem to be them except mine are 303x.I just rechecked on E-BAY and for a simple 2-way sealed speaker they are asking bushels of cash.Some people just want to stick it to ya. I saw a pair that was so marred I couldn't believe they were even showing it.And yes of

What did you find so humorous about the VonS's? I suppose your hodge-podge of speakers are more serious.
Obviously I am not the OP, but I'd hypothesize that he was amused by the... differential in size between the craigslister's ADCs and his VonSchweikerts.
For the record, to me anything smaller than about 9 ft^3 is a fairly compact loudspeaker. -
had a pair of the 303x's and was impressed. ONe had a messed up tweeter so I had to part it out, but I'd love to find another original pair. Heavy solid wood cabinets that would be pretty refinished. NIce find.2-ch System: Parasound P/LD 2000 pre, Parasound HCA-1000 amp, Parasound T/DQ Tuner, Phase Technology PC-100 Tower speakers, Technics SL-1600 Turntable, Denon 2910 SACD/CD player, Peachtree DAC iT and X1asynchorus USB converter, HSU VTF-3 subwoofer.

Your right that add just does not do the speaker justice.They are very heavy and solidly built. I did shine and polish them up and
raised them up on the stands that were given to me for the JBL bookies.Right now they are on the side but I just might have to
86 the Infinitys to the rear and have these guys front facing.I really did want to hear what those VonSchwreikerts sounded like.

ADC 303ax are pretty sporting, I've had several pair. It's a 10" woofer in there. I also have a pair of ADC 210, an 8" two-way sealed box. They are also pretty impressive for their age.
Lose the Infinity.
