I know this thing has enought re-issues (in many formats) to make your head spin...but...
Can anyone tell me the absolute best recording of Kind Of Blue on vinyl?
Soundstage Direct has like 4 versions all at significantly different prices...and I know there are more out there.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Paul

My 180gm copy from Columbia sounds fantastic...
But the mofi preorder is looking pretty tempting. -

Yea, the problem is I actually have to switch belts on my Pro-Ject to play a 45rpm. But, like you I am assuming that will be the best sounding one.
There are two 180g 33rpm on SSdirect for different prices, so I'm not sure what the difference is. The less expensive one is on the "Legacy" label (says Columbia on the jacket), and the more expensive one is on the "Not Now Music" label.2 ChannelTurntable - VPI Classic 2/Ortofon 2M BlueAmplification - Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum II, Parks Audio Budgie PhonoSpeakers - GoldenEar Triton 17.2 Home TheaterDenon AVR-X3300W; Rotel RMB-1066; Klipsch RP-280F's, Klipsch RP-450C, Polk FXi3's, Polk RC60i; Dual SVS PB 2000's; BenQ HT2050; Elite Screens 120"Man CaveTurntable - Pro-Ject 2.9 Wood/Grado GoldAmplification - Dared SL2000a, McCormack DNA 0.5 DeluxeCD: Cambridge AudioSpeakers - Wharfedale Linton 85th Anniversary; LSiM 703; SDA 2A -

Legacy is Columbia Records' (or Sony Music's) reissue division. -

Gotcha.
What is "Not Now Music"...and what would warrant that being more expensive?2 ChannelTurntable - VPI Classic 2/Ortofon 2M BlueAmplification - Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum II, Parks Audio Budgie PhonoSpeakers - GoldenEar Triton 17.2 Home TheaterDenon AVR-X3300W; Rotel RMB-1066; Klipsch RP-280F's, Klipsch RP-450C, Polk FXi3's, Polk RC60i; Dual SVS PB 2000's; BenQ HT2050; Elite Screens 120"Man CaveTurntable - Pro-Ject 2.9 Wood/Grado GoldAmplification - Dared SL2000a, McCormack DNA 0.5 DeluxeCD: Cambridge AudioSpeakers - Wharfedale Linton 85th Anniversary; LSiM 703; SDA 2A -

I have the Columbia 180g reissue also and it sounds great. I used to have an original pressing. I wish I had it now to compare the two.

I have a vg+ original pressing. Maybe I'll get the Columbia 180g just to compare. That is one album I definitely would like a mint copy of.2 ChannelTurntable - VPI Classic 2/Ortofon 2M BlueAmplification - Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum II, Parks Audio Budgie PhonoSpeakers - GoldenEar Triton 17.2 Home TheaterDenon AVR-X3300W; Rotel RMB-1066; Klipsch RP-280F's, Klipsch RP-450C, Polk FXi3's, Polk RC60i; Dual SVS PB 2000's; BenQ HT2050; Elite Screens 120"Man CaveTurntable - Pro-Ject 2.9 Wood/Grado GoldAmplification - Dared SL2000a, McCormack DNA 0.5 DeluxeCD: Cambridge AudioSpeakers - Wharfedale Linton 85th Anniversary; LSiM 703; SDA 2A
