While it probably is a good deal for those getting into HT and using seperates, I suspect something is missing. Call me jaded, but I get really suspicious about quality and performance when some company can do all that for only $549. Then again, if it is entry-level then it probably meets specs. At least they are not claiming it is audiophile reference gear.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable
Sony XA-5400ES SACD; Pass XP-22 pre; X600.5 amps
Magico S5 MKII Mcast Rose speakers; SPOD spikes
Shunyata Triton v3/Typhon QR on source, Denali 2000 (2) on amps
Shunyata Sigma XLR analog ICs, Sigma speaker cables
Shunyata Sigma HC (2), Sigma Analog, Sigma Digital, Z Anaconda (3) power cables
Mapleshade Samson V.3 four shelf solid maple rack, Micropoint brass footers
Three 20 amp circuits. -
I really* like the small footprint!- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

Wow, they actually got one released! It looks nice, and pretty good high level specifications.DKG999

I can't believe the size either! But it wouldn't work for me, it only has one sub out when I've got two subs to connect.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2

They make Y splitters so you can run two subs from a single sub output on your receiver. Not sure if Outlaw still has cables, however I have a couple of really nice Outlaw cables Y-splitters that I use to split my sub-out to drive two subs and my center channel out to drive my two LSiC's.DKG999

It is missing ethernet but otherwise it looks like a good way to get started with a basic processor.

It looks like it is just a AVR minus rhe amp section. I am skeptical about the "Weight 8.27 lbs"

Glad to see Outlaw finally put out a new piece of HT gear. It's been a long time coming. Not the 978 everyone was hoping for, but that may still come. This will be a goto recommendation for someone wanting the convenience of a basic AVR but who knows they will be wanting to go with separates. Pair it with a decent amp and it's basically a build-your-own higher-quality AVR kit. Yes, it's on the light side, but take the amps/heatsinks out of your average AVR and it's probably lighter in comparison. 8.24 lbs is pretty stout for something that small, and it does have a toroidal power supply.
The pricing is actually a bit on the high side IMO given how basic this unit is (few inputs, no multi-channel analog input, no Audyssey), but at least you can be sure that the internal components are of high quality. Also happy to see that the software can be updated and that it has a 12V trigger output.

I'm not sure what to think about the 975. On one hand, I could live without the Audyssey, as even though my current processor has it, I don't use it. Although I expect most of the market would expect it even at it's low price point. No zone 2, would be a problem for me. I've got enough equipment in the rack without having to add a 2ch pre-amp to handle zone 2. Will it handle multi-channel PCM? I don't see that listed in the specs. That would be a deal breaker for me as without a 7ch input that would mean no multi-ch SACD or DVD-A support.
It had better sound really good, otherwise I don't see what this has going for it. -
I agree it is a very narrowly targeted item. If it wasn't so basic it would have much wider appeal, but then it would be a 978. But for someone who wants a very basic feature set along with high quality, it would be the way to go. I personally would not miss Audyssey either, but the lack of a multi-channel analog input would be a deal-breaker for me. Might be something for someone who is setting up a standalone HT system in addition to their regular system but doesn't want to skimp on the quality.
