Just bought it on Amazon.com for $43.53 w free shipping and no tax. Lowest price by 16.00 I have ever seen. Peace

    Just about my favorite movie (I consider all 3 together) but I bought the DVD's as they were released, then bought the extended edition DVD's when they came out, and then bought the Blu Ray editions when they were released, and I just don't think I can justify more money for the extended again. The theatrical version is best anyway, and if I have to see the extended, I will just have to make do with the upconverted DVD versions.

    And of course, with The Hobbit parts 1 and 2 coming to theaters, there will be multiple releases of those and probably reissues of The LOTR in boxed sets with The Hobbit.

    I just checked Chumlie, and you are correct but even though I liked the book and am sure I will like the movie, 3 movies will just be dragging it out too much. Two movies would seem to be perfect for that book. One of their journey to the mountain, and another about the fight for the treasure.

    Have patience. I'll bet over the Black Friday weekend you'll be able to find it for about that price at multiple places. I paid $50 last year at this time at Best Buy.
