I'm borrowing the Marantz stuff from my friends dad to test it out. I'm gonna try it out on my RTi70s with my TXSR701 as a pre.. I hope I don't blow anything up.
We've also got some Sansui A-1001 or something.. Not sure what it is.

OMG.
That was almost a religious expirence.
I ran my cd player into the Marantz 3800 then into the 250m, we were like "why is there no sound " but then it slowly faded in as it warmed up.. It hadn't been fired up for 10 years.
That was amazing.. I gotta get one of these. -
it was that classic warm Marantz sound running thru your blood you were feeling..
nice gear:D ... dust it off inside and out.. do you get to keep it, or have to return it to your friends dad?
Both the amp and pre amp were built in the mid 70's. 74, 75, 76. the 250m was suppose to be matched with the 3800 preamp. which of course your dad's friend did.
250m sports 126w X 2 and sold for $599 retail. so did the 3800 prePolkFest 2012, who's going>?
Vancouver, Canada Sept 30th, 2012 - Madonna concert  -

I have to return them at some point.. However I am going to try and find a marantz pre (even a low model, all i need is something to control volume), and two 250s. Highly unlikely however.
I think my best bet is a 1250 intigrated amp and an external 250.. Finding 250s are really hard, but the higher model ints aren't that rare. -
