Does anybody have knowledge, experience or opinions about Equi=Tech balanced power products?

Here are a couple of links that give some information about them for those who have not heard of them or no little or nothing about them:

Here's a link to the Equi=Tech price list -- very pricey stuff:

I came across this while searching for ways to clean up the power source for my system and would appreciate others' thoughts.

Thank you.

I've had the Son of Q 1.5R in my system for over 8/9yrs now & I"ll never be without an Equitech product. The founder wrote the book & pattented the balanced power technology. Just take a look at the long list of recording studios, film studios & various artists that insist on having them in their studios. There's even artists that have it in their recording contracts the all gear must utilize an Equitech balanced power unit.

The difference is quite staggering when you first hook one up & plug your gear into it for both audio & video. You'd be surprised at how much better all your gear performs...it's a shame that the electric we have here really does rob componets from performing at their peak of performance.

On a side note, I was an outside vendor for the Sony Music division for 16yrs. It was fascinating to see all the gear in the plant running off of Equitech units. I asked the top electrical engineer about them & he said it's a mandate from Sony corporate in Japan. He did say he wouldn't want it any other way either. He was extremely impressed with the results & how much better all the equioment ran. One of the top recording artists Sony had on their label was Pink Floyd & it was in their recording contract to use Equitech units. There are a lot of other artists also.

Expensive...yes but worth every penny. Hell, you've probably spent more on a pair of cables in your rig without blinking an eye.

I have the 1RQ model. It is phenominal. I cannot recommend this product more highly. The dynamics in my music and HT are phenominal after installing this balanced power conditioner. they are pricey, but worth every penny, IMO of course. Unfortunately, they don't have a voltage regulator included, so you will need a seperate one if that is important to you.

My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

    pearsall001 & headrott,

Thanks for the comments. They are very high praise and very helpful.

Headrott, can you tell me more about the need for a voltage regulator. I have to confess, I don't understand it.

    Thanks.

The voltage coming out of the wall outlet is very rarely exactly 120V. It usually fluctuates above and/or below throughout the day especially at peak demands. Unless this is corrected (depending on how far your power fluctualtes from 120V) your gear suffers from being over powered and/or underpowered. this leads to shortened life span of your equipment and lower sound quality such as dynamics, soundstage, and imaging. The more consistant the power is to your amp, pre-amp, CD-player, DAC, etc. the better off your gear and audio quality are.

Thank you. That is very clear.

I have not systematically tested the voltage in my home, but I have tested it from time to time and found that it ranges between 119.9V and 120.1V, which surprised me. I expected a much wider range.

The frequency range was also surprisingly tight -- 59.9H - 60.1H. I think I need to put the meter on it at various times over several days to see whether it is actually that tight. Or, perhaps, that is not as tight as it should or could be.

Again, thanks for the help with this.
