I currently own a Polk PSW10. I'm sure this has been asked hundreds of times. Yes I searched the internet for answers and for some reason I just can't get it right in my head. If i set the low pass to 80, does that mean that the sub will take over for the speakers any frequency under 80Hz an under? Set to 100Hz same thing, 100Hz and under? Set to 160Hz, 160Hz and under? Keep it simple stupid for me. lol. One more thing, the manual says for movies turn it all the way up to 160Hz because this will best represent LFE settings which my old receiver currently does not have. Once again keep it simple stupid for me. Thanks in advance.

If your receiver does not have 'bass management' features and perform the high and low frequency cutoffs for what goes to the sub and what goes to your speakers, then your speakers are getting the full range of audio frequencies regardless of where you set the control on the sub.
The setting on the sub will then only determine what frequency range you want the sub to handle.

Thank you, thank you, Thank you Erik Tracy! I figured I was missing something here. My receiver is the problem with any settings I choose to use on the sub. It does not have any kind of "bass managment" you refer to. This puts my in a postion to justfy why I need to a great receiver. If money wasn't a factor,,,, let see now disconecct cable tv,,,could drop home phone,, sell car and walk to work,,, thinking here,,,lol. Thanks again!
