One other thing that just came to mind, the manual that the came with the defective Traveler differed from the manual I downloaded from the VPI website. The manual I downloaded mentions "the tonearm bearings are spring loaded so they can take more abuse than regular gimbaled bearings, this was on page 3 Unpacking the Box. The manual that came with the defective table did not make mention of this, keep this in mind if you are considering this table, I did not get the impression the defective table was spring loaded as it pertains to the tonearm assembly.2-Channel System

Not to muddy the waters but I'm a bit curious about the Music Hall MMF-7.1. It is the same price as a Traveler with a few design advances like separated motor, carbon fiber arm, and dual layer plinth. The original MMF-7 w/ aluminum arm was highly rated by Stereophile.
