the musicality of the RTI A

Been debating between the LSi7 and the RTi A3 for a 90% music 2.1 set-up with an amp. Haven't decided on the amp yet.

I think most would say that the LSi7 is the more "musical" speaker, and that the RTI A3 is too bright, making it better suited for HT. On the other hand, some say that the A3 is not too bright when properly driven.

I have no intention of spending the extra $300 to have the LSi7 modded, and that along with the fact that I can buy the A3 locally has balanced the playing field between the two from my outlook on it.

So, any opinions welcome. Thanks.

How big of a room are you talking ? I would say the 7's paired with a decent sub for music would work in a smallish room for music.

The LSi gets my vote. I have found the LSi line to be more detailed than the RTi A line and not as fatiguing.

I just pulled my A7's out of my HT and put my LSi 9's in and I'm waiting for my new sub, so far I'm very happy with the LSi's for HT duty and I knew already that they were great for music.

The listening area isn't all that big. But I've heard an LSi9 fill a large room with no problems, and as the second 5.25" driver in the 9 is for <200Hz only, I figured the 7 would get as loud as the 9 anyway as long as there's enough power behind it.

Thanks for the replies. Much appreciated.

I had both RTiA3s and LSi7s at the same time for awhile and did my own comparison:

I ended up selling the LSi7s....go figure....

Keep in mind that my preferences won't match yours. I prefer 'detail' and I don't listen at loud volumes - so for me, the RTiA3s were easiER to drive, and gave the open detailed sonics I like for my musical preferences.

The LSi7s definitely get the nod if you have good amplification you like to kick the volume up a notch to prod the LSi7's awake.

Note: I've since moved on to different speakers, but still enjoyed both the RTiA3s and LSi7s....its all good....
