i was out with my friend yesterday at the bar and we met up with his firends. one of them was planing a ht in a house he was bulding. suposley bulding and the specks he was spouting were wack. he said his 10 speaker system with its 1200 was sub mp is the best. also said he was putting a 166 diag screen up and first row seating was going to be at 8 feet. he was stuborn but after i herd it was boes i just laffed and drank another one.

    yeah and he sad he was going to use a infocus screen play 7200. i mean for that size i would get at least a runco mid end dlp or maby a 3 chip dlp but hey i am going with a 125 in screen with a 12 ft first row. proabley getting the panny 300 caues i herd there is no vertical banding on it and the new 500 has some problems with it. eather that or a z2

    Just wanted to butt in here.

    Sounds like everything you are describing is coming right from the pages of a recent Sound and Vision issue. I don't remember the issue date but it had a kid on the floor staring at a monstrous Mitsu rear projector TV.

    Most of the equipment, including the InFocus projector, that you mentioned got good reviews from Sound and Vision. Well, except for the Bose crap but there was a pile of ads in that issue for Bose crap. I realized it because I was looking at that same issue in the doctor's office last night. It all seemed so vaguely familar and I didn't put 2 and 2 together until this morning.

    good call. that's the nov, '03 issue. but in addition to the EQ rec's, it did state some viewing distance guidelines that apparently weren't read.
