yesterday here in Madison. Pushing their lifestyle systems. Specifically the 28 and 35 packages. $2500 and $3000 apiece, respectively. Of course that (the prices) wasn't mentioned in the add, I had to do a google search to find that. I couldn't believe it when I saw it. That had to be expensive. Makes me wonder how many papers nationwide (worldwide?) they ran it in.

So I was going to post a thread yesterday about it but decided not to bother. Most people here seem to know how much Bose dumps into Marketing and Promotion. Then when I got home in the mail there was a fat envelope for me from Bose! Hawking a completely different line of stuff (Acoustic Wave). These are all just table top radio/CD/"music systems", the top one having a 5 cd changer and running $1378! There was a little brochure describing how wonderful all the Bose Wave components are. And an order form! I guess they think their copywriters are so gifted that just reading about their products is enough to get people to buy them without an actual audition.

Both the newspaper ad and the letter offered a free 30-day trail period, free shipping and financing, if needed. They make it pretty painless for people to take the plunge without even hearing the stuff.

I'm wondering how they got my name. My guess would be Circuit City.

Anyone else get any Bose junk mail lately?

They prob got your info from your creditcard company - scary thought. I get the promos all the time with my statements.

I saw it too. I wanna know who "Rich Warren, Audio Critic" is. Didn't mention any affiliation. They're funny like that.

A free Wave Radio too with purchase. The machine rolls on........

    Update.

Found him. Chicago Tribune columnist and WFMT DJ.

I think you hit the proverbial nail square on the head with this one. I know several people who have done exactly that. Only in America could a company with such a crappy product have that kind of following...
