Thanks Tour... as an IT person I spent most of the summer dealing with either Windows vulverabilities or virus threats. Actual 'in the wild' reports are the best tip-offs. MS of course doesn't distribute any security warnings via email. Here's more info:

I got hit by a "browser hijack" script this week. Talk about a pain in the ****! Everytime you try to go to your homepage on IE 6.0 it would "hijack" your homepage somewhere else. Change options on IE but when you reboot it's back! Used Spybot and Adware and Norton to try to clean up but none of these worked!

I finally figured out how to get rid of it today. Used a program called "hijack this" to get some registry code and deleted some suspicious ones.

Hope nobody else gets this aggravation. Beware of pop-up windows. I use Pop Up stopper but some still slip through and I must have accidentally answered yes to one of them.

    Paul,

i had this same damn thing happen to me with IE too. it doesn't seem to affect Netscape.. which i prefer anyways over IE. what a freakin' hassel it was to get rid of.. i used Spybot and it took care of it.. now i use Spybot along with spyware blaster.. seems to isolate more hijacks and spyware..

is there anyway to hijack the sites that sends those out? i'm all for flooding their sites with emails, and other things to bring their sites to it's knees. ha ha ha.
