Kicking around the idea of a new 2 channel amp.

I've been itching for a while now to give a class D amp a whirl in my system. There's absolutely nothing I don't like about the performance of my Rotel RMB-1095 multi channel amp so don't think that I'm making a change because I don't like it. I've been putting the new Yammy A3010 thru very rigorous testing by letting it power all the speakers (9) except my mains (Rotel handles them). The Yammie powers all of them without breaking a sweat. And I crank the system during a BD movie!!! I wanted to see how well it handled all 9 speakers before I would even consider my move. I was worried that the center would not equal it's performance compared to being powered by the Rotel but those worries were quickly dismissed. The vocals & music are just as crystal clear & sharp thru the Yammie as the Rotel. The Yammie gets a 5 thumbs up on it's performance. And since I do need an external amp to run my 11.2 system, the mains are the one's getting the attention.

I'm intrigued by the d>Sonic M2-1200S amp (600w) & the W4S- ST-1000 (570w). Again just kicking things around here. But if I do decide to make the move I'm sure the Rotel would make it's new owner very, very happy. Here's to deciding.

I would say W4S, also look at their integrateds. Powerfull and can give you the option of bypassing the receiver if you so wish.

Tony, W4S seems to be the top dog but d>Sonic is right there with them as far as performance goes (from what I've been reading). And I'm not really interested in an integrated...looking strictly for a power amp. Price wise the d>Sonic is wallet friendly compared to the W4S.

All class D amplifiers have come a long way in the last few years, and many of them are good these days; each with it's own aural characteristics. That is the direction I would always go these days if I wanted 400wpc+ power; lower power consumption and heat are just a bonus. I was just chatting with a gent who found a surprising pairing between class D and his Verity Audio speakers, a swap he sometimes makes instead of his usual Nagra amplification.

I have a D-Sonic Magnum 1000S and it's an excellent amp. Plays very well and handles my RTi12s with ease. I also spoke with Dennis on a few occasions and he is an extremely nice guy. I have nothing but great service with them. I highly recommend giving D-Sonic a go.

It looks like d>Sonic & W4S are the choices in my price range. I also like NuForce but they are a tad pricey. I'm in no rush because the RMB-1095 is serving me extremely well. Just kicking some tires at this point.
