Have anybody experienced a pair of Tannoy SRM 12B? How do they sound compare to Polk 10B? Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks

    Welcome to Club Polk!

A question for you: Are you Dr. Doom's Auntie?

On a more serious note, I haven't heard that particular pair of Tannoys but others I've heard I would take over the Polks, especially with tube amps--they are ever so sweet!

    Others will chime in!

Not familiar with Tannoy, do have a pair of old 10'bs and they are still cranking out the music despite their age, bought in 85, they are holding up nicely. Although I've owned others, never found a reason to get rid of of this pair!

Do two negatives make a positive?

    Shacky,

negative multiples negative then make a positive. but two negative add up together still make negative. So it depends. Still I do not quite understand your question.

The reason why I asked this question because I have a chance to get the Tannoy for $400/pair. If I get Polk for $100,then I will spend $100 to upgrade to crossover than another $100 to upgrade the tweeters. Total would be more than $300 for the Polk. That is why I need your opinions/suggestions before making decision. Thanks a lot.

The Tannoys are great speakers and not easy to find. I would go with the Tannoys, if you don't like them you shouldn't have any problem getting your money out of them.

Tannoy. Although I've never heard those, I can not imagine the 10's besting them.

I used to have the 10's and I liked them but as mentioned above, I don't think they would be better than the Tannoys... even modded.

I tested both Tannoy and Polk. Polk has better bass but overall, the Tannoy sounds much better and music is more "natural" than Polk. Thanks for all replies from everybody, I got the Tannoy.
