I am looking into getting an amp for my kef q900s... According to KEF the power specs are 15-200w 8ohm. Would it harm the speakers to get an amp such as the parasound 2250 that has 250w at 8 ohm? Was also looking at other parasound and adcom amps in the 200wpc range. Would it be a waste of money to get more power than needed?

Absolutely not, the 2250 would be a great match for those speakers!

The 200wpc model would probably also be fine, but it's better to have a little headroom and "power on tap", especially for a tower speaker like that q900.

Remember the most common cause for speaker damage is an overdriven amp that starts clipping and sends out a broken sinewave which causes the speaker to blow. (At least this has always been my understanding)

Short answer....no, you'll be fine. The amp doesn't put out it's full rated power at all times, only what is asked of it up to it's limits.
