Are you using that elusive black paint? If you can't hear a difference, don't waste your money.

Last time I painted (a few months ago) - I decided to go all out. Instead of grabbing my supplies from the plastic bag in the garage that I've been using for years (which were also hand-me-downs from my parents), I went to Sherman Williams. I've always been a fan of Behr paint - never let me down yet, so why try something new?
Well, I spent the money on paint (SW is like $70 a gallon), bought new rollers, brushes, pans, coverings - the whole 9 yards. It was probably the best experience I have ever had painting. Granted, that is a very low scale - so when I say the best, I mean tollerable.65" Sony X900 (XBR-65X900E)

LOL, nope, it was gray this time around.Last time I painted (a few months ago) - I decided to go all out. Yeah we borrowed some quality paint supplies from someone I know whose a painter by trade, so its good quality gear, but we used Olympic paint and it turned out good, its just all the stupid cutting and 2 coats that stunk. That and the cleanup and using all the hot water in the house for the cleanup so I couldnt take a shower after painting for like 5+ hours.
I am very sore in my fingers, arms and legs today lol. Time to try and relax."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -
My brother helped paint 2 of the 3 bedrooms in my house recently (master bedroom late December when I have extended time off). I decided to go Sherwin Williams for the paint. Sure, it's a little pricier than the Lowes and Depot brands, but you really get what ya pay for. My brother did maintenance work for 20 years and painted the homes he's lived in. He's worked with tons of different quality paints over the years. He absolutely loved the Sherwin Williams paints. They went on very smooth and practically covered over the old paint in a single coat. We went back and did a second to be sure.
I like the one-stop-shop convenience of SW as well. Oh, and the fact that they're two minutes around the corner from me helps also.
Painting does suck though! Got the higher quality paints to make sure they last! It helps that there are no kids in the house. Also helps that there's no wife who wants to change the color scheme every six months like my brother has to deal with.No excuses! -
^I agree. We did not however want to spend the money for Sherwin Williams, otherwise I would have just had my friend paint the room for us as he gets a discount on them. That and it would have saved me all the pain of doing it myself lol.
When we get a house we will be going with quality and have a professional do it as I will gladly pay to get a better finish than I can do myself lol."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." Yes, no kids definately helps (I would assume, since I have no kids). As for the wife, I always make sure to carry a bigger stick then she does. It took her 7 years before I gave in and painted the living room. lol65" Sony X900 (XBR-65X900E)

We have always had very long discussions about painting. When we moved in we both knew we wanted an accent wall by the TV in a dark color and until yesterday that is the only wall that was painted. Minus this paint job thats the only paint going on the walls."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted."
