Where exactly? I might be staying overnight in NJ if I can't get back into NYC.

I'd say just about anywhere south of Exit 8 on the turnpike, but not near the shore. I don't know about Rte. 9 or The Parkway. I'm convinced you can probably get off at Exit 8 and find both gas/lodging within a mile of the exit. I'm POSITIVE you can do it at Exit 7, within 15 seconds of getting off the turnpike. Pay the toll, go south on Rte. 206 towards Mt. Holly and you'll hit a gas station in 15 seconds. It's a huge truck stop. Go the other direction on 206 and it's almost the same thing. Hotels/motels and gas stations. All operational.

    Good luck.

Just make sure you come far enough south to be in Burlington County. No rationing.

Well, it looks like this station ran out of gas. Not good as there are doctors and janitors and cleanup people on the line waiting to get gas. Saw an ambulance try to get past, it literally had to force it's way through traffic as traffic was backed up for miles. There were fire trucks trying to get through, police vehicles blaring their sirens, and emergency personnel all trying to get through this crowded section of road.

Here's another pic I took before it got really dark.

Exactly why when my tank drops to 2/3 full I fill up. Never know here in earthquake land.

I know people who ride their tank till the car is running on fumes, just plain stupid.

This only applies to counties in NJ that are rationing gas. Keep that in mind if you come to NJ for gas.

If your county is south of I-95, you aren't subject to rationing, except for the barrier islands but they don't have any working gas stations even if power get restored.

Lines appear to be shrinking around here.

Sal, you're an idiot. I-95 cuts across NJ from around Trenton to just south of NYC. All the affected counties are north of I-95 in NJ.

Finally got gas in New Jersey. If you're up by Fort Lee, several stations are open pumping gas.

My wife does that. Drives me nuts. I don't do 2/3, but I try not to let it get past 1/4. Living in hurricane country, whenever a storm looks to be heading my way, I fill up both bikes, both cars, the generator, the lawn mower (you can always siphon), and about 7 gallons worth of gas cans about 4 days before it's projected to hit land, then refill the cars if it seems like its coming for us and going to be a bad one. Been there, done that...don't plan on doing it again.

I remember people coming from Houston, one of the largest refining cities in the world, and they had people driving an hour and a half here to get gas. Craziness.
