Question on warranty with polk lsi9

So I purchased 2 pair of polk LSi9s in Cherry from acoustic sound design which is listed as a polk authorized dealer, they were said to be open box, as the previous owner upgraded to LSi15s, So I specifically asked if they were still under warranty and he said yes.

The other day they arrived and I only had time to setup 1 pair, they seemed OK, yesterday I set up the second pair. The speaker wire connections were kinda in bad shape, one of the connecting bars was bent, some were loose and one of the clamp down screws was missing. Upon futher inspection it had fallen off and I believe that it fell inside the speaker, because the speaker makes noise when you move it. Something is loose inside.

So then I messaged them right away about it and proceeded to try the other speaker. The other speaker sounded blown or messed up in some way. So I emailed them again about that issue, clearly these speakers were messed up.

So they offered me this, they do not have any cherry speakers in stock, but they have black and they want me to take a pair of black LSi9s and swap out the parts with the cherry.

If I do this does it void my polk warranty? Or is polk a company that tends to allow users to do their own fixes etc.. Does this sound like a bad situation I need to bail out of right away?

I would check with polk customer service. Polk has shipped me sub amps for me to replace as part of warranty service, so it would not surprise me if they were alright with you doing the change.

I know Polk CS did something similar for a guy who bought a cherry CSi A5 and then wanted black, or vice versa. They shipped him out the cabinet and he switched the internals on his own.

I would call Polk CS (I have a couple times myself) and just verify. They are great people to work with and should be able to answer your question with no problem.
