good buy?

shopping for some decent fronts for my barracks room, i came across some RTi6 brand new, for 225, for the same price i could have purchased the TSi200, but went wih the RTi6, now awaiting for them to get here, am wondering if i made a good purchase(and do they pair well with a psw110), any advice would be awesome, theyre for a small 2.1 system, i switch to 5.1 for movies, but my AVR(yamaha rx-v371) isnt the greatest, but for my room and equiptment it suit me fine, looking also for a good center to pair with the RTi6 speakers, any suggestions? at the moment i have a small panasonic center from a cheap box set surround system as well as the matching fronts for my surrounds, once the RTi6 get her, my sony bookshelf speakers will replace the surrounds, but i will still bestuck with the crappy little center

    thanks, however, here in sicily, my audio shopping options arent what they would be stateside, the local stores carry a very limited selection of jbl polk and
    wharfedale products in my price range, the cs10 is avaialable for 109 euro(about 145$), otherwise i need to order online, and would prefer to buy new as well, is the cs10 comparable enough in quality and sound to pair?

    While the cs10 isn't timbre matched to your 6's. It will be a huge improvement to what your useing now. I think you will be happy with the cs10.

    yea I agree with chumlie. Not ideal but considering your limitations its not a bad choice at all and will be MUCH better than your current center.

    Your welcome. I run a cs20 myself paired with RTi a7's. I'm sure a CSi a6 would sound better. I'm still quite pleased with the 20. Go with the 20 over the 10 if you can.

    basically while it won't solve the timbre matching issues, the larger drivers will be a better match for the RTi6s, and it will handle dialogue and everything that comes through the center channel.

    Will it be underpowered.. Yes. Will it work..yes but not to its potential. I recommend saving for a new AVR with preouts and getting an amp.

    With my very limited budget and spacial limitations as well as furniture restrictions, I don't plan to be too crazy or in depth with my system plus afraid of how the movers will treat it when I leave

    Its really a matter of personal preferance and budget. I prefer Pioneer. Others go with Onkyo, Yamaha, Marantz and so on. A Pioneer SC series would drive your speakers fine without an external amp. Or go with a lesser AVR and amp combo. Don't count out used equipment. Plenty of good deals out there and usually people take pretty good care of there equipment. Same goes for amps. I prefer Parasound which can be had resonabley priced used. Other choices, Adcom, Rotel, Outlaw and so on. If looking for new on a budget for home theatre you may wanna consider Emotiva amps.

    I would look at the Onkyos. At least a 709 I believe that has preouts for future amplification. I've been quite please at my 809 and got a good deal by shopping ebay.

    shopping the manufacturer sites, onkyo offers refurbed on almost all of their receivers for a fraction the new price, and i feel i can buy with confidence when its manufacturer refurbed

    That wouldn't bother me either! I bought my 12s from Polk as refurbs and they also came with good warranty so I had no problems with that fact and have been very pleased!

    as i stated above, im new to this, inexperienced, small budget, small room, if i choose to upgrade from the yamaha rx-v371, it will be to an AVR with more power or a bi-amping option, based on simplicity price and size, and for the price, i canget the onkyo thats comparable to the others listed for the price of my current avr, denon also has a good one in my range, but their specs on their website do not at all describe the power distribution, itt says power(watts) 90, which could be ove all channels or to each, idk a company that gives vague/shady spec sheets for their products has me skeptical

    I'd def go with an Onk or a preamp. I have NO idea what i'm talking about with those things but I'm sure more people could if you wanted to explore that option. I will recommend what I know and thats the Onk AVRs. They are very nice and I really like mine!

    thanks for the advice, i really love my yamaha( for a barracks room it kicks **** for surround sound) but looking to get more power for my incoming speakers, as i would like loud music and distortion really bothers me, plus one day i will leave here and have a house, be nice to have a good reciever for a media room and a smaller one for a bedroom or living room, or even give my dad the yammy, his old school rca burnt out, and high end audio isnt his bag, just likes to have a better home movie expirience than tv speakers

    Yeah man, it usually works out better when you save up a while for something nice instead of going the cheap way out and just blowing the money cause the 'upgrade bug' comes a LOT quicker with cheap stuff. I learned that the hard way... Sounds like you have a good plan though! If your dad doesn't watch it though, he'll catch the bug too.

    i think he'll be good, he had that set up for 15 years and never added to it, just changed tv's and peripherals, he just needs a new audio handler
