Quick question for you experts!
Hello all,
You guys were recently helping me pick out a system. I've decided on some Rti a9s for now and everyone said I needed an amp to drive them. At my work we are clearancing out some Marantz PM8004 for about $400. It has a power amp direct in and I was wondering if I could use that with an Aventage 820 or 1020 and get some good sound?
Thanks in advance,

I'm not that familiar with Yamaha receivers but if you have Preouts you should be able to make those speakers rock! Run the room software adjustments as well and follow those instructions exactly. You should end up with much more bass and a fuller sound in general.

Yes. You should be good with either one of those Yamaha's. Both have preouts. Good price on that Marantz by the way.

Personally, I'd look for something with more meat to it. The Marantz is rated at 70 watts at 8ohms, 100 into 4 ohms and is an integrated. Look for a used Adcom, Parasound, B&K, Carver, and a host of others which can be had on the used market in your price range.HT SYSTEM-
