Need help with LSi25's with or without amp

Hi,
I have a pair of LSi25's as main speakers. When I bought these I was using a Denon 2106 which is not rated to run 4 Ohm speakers. So I bought an Anthem PVA-7 amp. Now I have a Sony STR-DA4600ES which has a setting for 4 Ohm speakers. I have tried both with the amp and without and can't really tell a difference. With my limited knowledge it seems best to use the amp (which is now in the basement with the Denon 2106 and vintage Polks) with the LSi25's. Any thoughts and reasons would be appreciated. Thanks,

The Anthem amp would be a better choice than your Denon or Sony. However, if you are running all seven channels of the Anthem amp for surround sound, your LSi25 would still benefit from a dedicated 2-channel amp.

The reason you don't hear too much of a difference is that amp is somewhat on the light side for power at 105 watts. I'll agree with Jake that a more powerfull 2 channel amp would wake them up some but I sure wouldn't use a receiver to power them none the less.

I have had a nightmare with running LSI of receivers. And I am running 9 of them. I power my LSI25 with an Anthem MCA 20. I just added an Integra 70.1 9 channel amp for the others. My Onkyo TXNR 5007 was pushing the other 7 and its rated at 4 ohm. But I was afraid it was going to burn down my house. HOT hOT HOT.......

I have been killing receivers with LSI speakers. Only separates from now on. The new Integra is running nice and cool and the Onkyo is running cooler without the load.

The Anthem has pushed the 25's and has NO heat EVER. Its like I never turn it on.

    Best wishes on a solution.

The Sony does not get too hot, but putting my hand on the top of it I do feel warmth. I have maxed out my $ for entertainment at this time. Today I plan to bring the amp back into the main room and save for a good two channel amp.
    Thanks!
