router problem/question

I have a netgear router N600 model WNDR3400.
I have had problems with internet connection dropping on lap tops in the past but have solved that
problem by changing channels until I found one that worked. ( a lot of wifi in this area in close distance
from house)
Now lately my Onkyo network rec. has been dropping while srtreaming rhapsody, I have done firm ware
up date on it and router to no help.
Last night while listening to Rhapsody it was/had to buffer every song and dropped or stopped playing
for a few seconds that started up again. At the smae time my laptop was real sluggish and it to had to
buffer vids.
I went to check router out and noticed that the lights on front were a weak orange color and blinking, the are
usually green and blue. I tied reset and nothing, I unplugged for a few and nothing. I still had weak flickering
lights. My modem showed good and the dish was also showing stong pick up. I went back up to lap top and
I had no connection for a few then did and it was back to normal EVERYTHING worked again.
Is router going out? ( it's 4 years old )

Quick test would be to get a CAT5 cable and plug your laptop directly into the router, and turn off your wi-fi on the laptop. (Physically if possible - some laptops have a hard switch for this).
Then when you notice the buffering/streaming in Rhapsody, jump on the laptop and try to load up some videos to see if they are also loading slowly and buffering.
Seems like the culprit might just be the router though - maybe one of it's radios/antennas going bad.
