I know folksk liked the 504 but if I remember correctly it tends to get a bit hot when warmed up. If you think its a good price, go for it!

    Welcome to Club Polk!

If you can get both of those for a good price, they're worth it. I have the P-304 which is a nice pre-amp in the budget category, has a very capable phono section, and is pretty quiet. The 504, which I've heard, is also a decent power amp in that circa $300+/- category. Onkyo pres can go from 100-200?

Wow, two threads about this combo in the same day? Below is what I posted in the other thread. Also, my M504 which I have had since new....never runs hot. And I guess I've never really heard or read that about this amp.
I've had a M504 since it was new. I love this amp! Very solid performer IMO. The P301 and P304 are excellent preamps to mate with the M504. I've never had any issues with mine whatsoever. Someday I want to do the LED mod to mine.

    Congrats on scoring that amp!

Hey,have to tell ya I scored both units for just over four bills! This equipment was made for serious sound pressure levels, yet performs quite nicely at low volume settings....good head-end. Can't believe this is no longer in production either! Someone definitely goofed on that decision. Have a vintage pair of monitor 10b's and man have they come alive! Production mid 90's and neither has a scratch! I'm gassed!!!

Congrats. Keep a watch on the temperatures of the Onkyo pre-amp. You may need to consider a USB run fan, but I'm not sure.

You're not sure?? Where did you hear that it ran hot? I've had that pre before and it never ran hot.
