Alright, so I have a CL addiction. If I come across speakers I have never seen or heard of, I buy them. I came across these a while back and bought them cheap. OHM Walsh 4. Has anyone ever heard a pair of these?

Yup, heard about them many times. There should be a couple threads on the forum about them. Very good speakers still sought after today. They are on my list to try out someday.

Nice1 I haven't even hooked them up to hear them yet. i don't even know if they work or not. But for $100, I thought I'd take a chance in case they were worth anything.

Definitely worth a listen and probably a purchase. I know a guy, not too far away from me, who refurbs them for sale, I bought an old Marantz off him a while back and he had a pair of these and another model that he played for me-quality room filling sound. But they are, if I remember correctly, not the most efficient speaker so you need good clean power.

They are an omni directional design and as with every omni directional speaker I've heard they create an open and airy soundstage, but lack the anchored center image.

They are pretty good. The "real" full-range Ohm Walsh driver loudspeakers (e.g., the near-legendary Ohm F), inefficient as heck and a pain to re-foam at this late date were the cream of the crop. The little ones (yours look like mine, which are, I believe, the "Ohm Walsh 2" model) feature a much more prosaic driver array - essentially an woofer mounted upside-down under that 'screen' with a tweeter pointing out at an odd angle (not unlike the multi-tweeter "array" of a Bose 601 - but only one tweeter).

I find them to sound quite good top to bottom and to be far happier with lower-powered amps than prevailing wisdom would dictate.

It is hard to photograph them in a way that conveys their truncated pyrimadal shape :-)
They have a pair of "sock" type grilles to cover the tops - I have mine but the inner supports are broken/missing (gotta do something about that some day...).

And, yes, indeed, like Polk and Klipsch, Ohm do still support most if not all of their legacy products.

Mine still have the tops. One has a broken cross bar in it, but it is only snapped on one side so none of the pieces are missing. I thought they looked really cool and the construction seemed quality so I picked them up. The lady, who was cleaning out a garage also told me "there is some other old junky speaker I will throw in for free". so I took it as well. It was an AR3!

Even new, the AR-3 looks kind of junky sans grille... they (still) sound nice, though!

I noticed the top in the background on your photo after I posted. D'oh.

I haven't even popped the grill off of the AR3 yet. I have got to clear some room out of my garage so I can even get to this stuff!
