There are a million choices in receivers depending on many factors. Listening preferences. What other speakers will you be using? # of channels. Types of sources you are using. The bigger question is what amp you get to run your 10's!

You should try a pre amp or tuner/ pre instead of a receiver.

Onkyo NR709 from Accessories4less.com. Under 500, has a manufacture warranty for 1 year, does 7.1 with pre-outs, has HDMI 1.4 so it does 3D and has Zone 2 and 3. If you want to use aftermarket powercords, then look at the 809.

I have always had good luck with Yamaha. The RX-V673 is about the same price point and is a pretty nice receiver.

Yamaha's are decent too, its gonna come down to if you like YPAO or Audyssey XT as your auto calibration tool.

It always comes down to personal preference and a bit of brand loyalty. I have friends who are crazy about Onkyo. They make some really nice pieces. I have always had luck with Yamaha, so I lean that way. But either unit will really be a nice upgrade.

Yup, and all their gear while refurbished normally comes with some sort of manufacture warranty which is real nice!

If this upgrade is for music I would stay with a warm/laid back receiver for the RTi-10. I use a Pioneer Elite and B&K amp with mine and they are too bright for me with music, for movies they are perfect. My suggetion is to find something in the HK line up you like.

Go to Onkyo Canada's site https://www.shoponkyo.com/products_refurb.cfm?specials=1&group_id=1 and you will get the same price on a refurb through them as acessories4less.

I'm not sure as of today, but most times Onkyo has free shipping on product purchase over $100 whether its new or refurb compared to accesories4less.

Anyone know where I could find a Marantz or Harman Kardon Referb in Canada? Was wondering How the Marantz would sound like with the Polk RTi's

Do you know anyone in the states that it could be shipped to? It could then be relabeled and shipped to you. Just a thought!

    Agreed

They always have just 1-3 new, and a "last one" in an the box. It's to pressure you to move quickly. They are like Mirage's OMD speakers that have been discontinued for at least a couple of years yet they keep getting sold.

I bought an extra Harman Kardon AVR-354 (reconditioned it says on the box) directly from HK to have as a spare. It was bought only as a back up in case something went down. Of course, HK's almost never go down. Used about one hour just to test and then re-boxed. Original everything. Plastic still on remote and faceplate. Let me know if you're interested. No problem shipping to Canada.

Talk to Drenis. He is another Canadian who is having some stuff shipped to somewhere in the US from where he will then pick it up I think.... not sure of the logistics but ask him.

I've always been a fan of Onkyo receivers. Anything from the 700's and up will have preouts. I personally use a small fan with them because they tend to run a little on the warm side.

Of course if you do by an Onkyo, be sure to purchase from an Onkyo authorized dealer or authorized online retailer. they have a list on the Onkyo site. You can't rely on all online retailers to be straight with you on this. Caution here...
