stupid amp question

Ok, made an offer on an 2 ch amp... and apparently I'm too slow to figure out hookup....
If you hook up a L and R channel to it for amplification, it has 4 outputs to the speakers.

Why does it have 4 outs (to the speakers)? I only need 2. Which speaker pair do I hook the speakers too? Hook them both to pair A or hook one speaker to the right side of pair A and the other speaker to the left side of pair B?? Crap I'm confused and I know I shouldn't be. Somebody dumb it down for a brother!

Hook both speakers up under speaker pair A. The amp is designed to allow you to have two separate sets hooked up. There is a button on the front that lets you selects A or B. in your case just set it to A and leave it be.

First of all Snake1 their is no such thing as a dumb question! It's only dumb if a person doesn't know and doesn't ask a question. Anyway, I have a question about this amp. It wouldn't work to try to run a bi-amp configuration on your mains with this amp even though the amp has four sets of terminals because the amp is only two channel. So, essentially even though your are connecting all four terminals on the amp to each of the double sets of speaker jacks on the back of your speakers (jumpers removed of course) it would still be the same as running in bi-wire mode. Am I thinking right on that?

It's not the same, it is bi-wiring.

You can't bi-amp with a single 2 channel amp.

Does bi-wiring have any advantage in an amplifier configuration? I know they don't in the AVR.

Since all the power is coming from the same source, you are not increasing your power at all. So no, it probably won't make a difference.

Its a can of worms so since the folks have already given their opinions I will simply state the thought behind why, since I actually paid more for bi-wire speaker cables.

Most will agree that the stock jumpers do their job well, however many of us have replaced those stock brass jumpers with our own jumpers made from speaker wire (high quality or otherwise). Normally the wire we use for the jumpers is the same as the wire from the amp to the speakers. If you are going to buy good high quality speaker wire sometimes its cheaper to buy bi-wire speaker cables, instead of getting the same speaker wire in a regular configuration and then adding small jumpers using that same wire due to the added number of connectors needed as well as their price.

For me it was MUCH cheaper (~150 bucks give or take) to buy the bi-wire speaker cables from the manufacture, rather than a standard cable + jumpers due to the price of the needed connectors and that they only offered jumpers in higher quality wire.

Does it make a ton of difference in sound quality? Try it and You decide, you dont share my ears so our experiences may differ. Does it give me peace of mind in knowing the same speaker wire is going to both the highs and lows, in my case yes, and thats all that matters.
