Best Polk Satellites out now?

I passed my old HK 6.1 to my wife's little brother for his apartment at college. He is wanting to buy a satellite surround package to go with it. I have listened to some of the newer polk satellites and I am not impressed with the one's I have heard. My RM7600 set-up sounds beautiful, but the systems I have heard lately sound very empty and shallow. Highs from the cubes and bass from the sub, but very little in between. What are your recommendations?

The Blackstone series is very impressive. A comparison with any of the RM series sats wouldn't even be fair.

Thanks! I'll see if someplace in Indy has them so I can check them out. They look to be reasonably priced.

Why not something a little bigger like the monitor series? I know college kids like to rock out and sat's are too small.

I told him to think about some bookshelf's since I didn't think a rumbling sub would be best in a college dorm but he is kind of set on a satellite style system. he's into music, like most college kids, but he is mainly wanting this for movies.

I heard a music demo with a pair of TL3s at Polk. Can't remember what sub they used, but there was no apparent gap between them. TL3 has the ring radiator tweeter - very sweet sats.

I started my journey with that system. Lasted me exactly a day. Maybe in a smallish, secondary room, but for music, it was a no-go.

    Trav:

The Fry's in Fishers looks like they carry them. You would want to call first since your not exactly close before you show up there, but I would seriously go give them a listen.

Otherwise I have a set of Monitor 60's + Polk PSW125 I might be willing to wheel and deal on which would make a pretty killer setup for movies if going 2.1.....

He's not interested in anything bigger than my 7600 sats. And he actually says they are too big. His dad always had the bose cube style systems and that is the style he is wanting, but he wants Polks because of the way mine sounded on that receiver before I changed to my Yamaha. Small speaker...bigger sound. If the Blackstones sound a lot better than the other RM systems out now, that will probably be the way he'll go.

I'll see where I can find them and take him to check out a few different models.

TL3 is the best sateline. Lsim 703 is the best bookshelf.
