Car trouble diag needed

A week or so ago I changed the headlight in my wife's Nissan Xterra. Disconnected negative terminal on battery, took out old lamp, plugged in new, reconnected terminal. Everything was good.
As of a couple days ago, she can't start her car. No turnover whatsoever.
I opened her driver door and the interior lights started flashing on and off randomly with a clicking noise coming from somewhere in the dash or under the hood.
Popped the hood and heard the random ticking coming from her fuse panel under there which coincided with the lights flashing. Noticed her headlights were flashing as well. Almost like the hazards were on, but they weren't.
Went to pull the negative terminal on the battery again to check the fuses. As I got it loosened a bit, the horn would go off.
Pulled the horn fuse and checked all the rest. No issues there that I could see.
Tried to jump the car, just to see if a weakened battery was causing the strangeness.... jump wouldn't do anything. Get no turnover whatsoever even after revving my car for a good 10 minutes.
I'm not sure what the heck is going on here. Ideas?

Ha! Oh man. Don't I feel stupid. So it must interpret the battery disconnect as an attempt to steal the car.
Well, thanks man. I flipped the alarm on and back off and it started fine."I did not slap you. I high-fived your face." -
I bet that was a relief. Car trouble sucks. Nothing like an easy no cost fix.

No cost fixes are the best kind

No doubt. I'd much rather feel stupid here than after a tow to the garage."I did not slap you. I high-fived your face."

Another ploy by the auto mfgr. to get unsuspecting owners to bring their car to the service department for $120.00/hr.If you can't hear a difference, don't waste your money.

The guy on the grassy knoll was a stooge for the real shooter farther up by the overpass.

Just curious why you took the negative cable off to begin with ???
I know some of them can be a royal pain to get out. Just wondering.
