"Vibratory Feeder". This machine vibrates small plastic vials into channels to the next machine, "The Gripper" which rotates them so the the open end faces up, then a small squirt of mineral spirits is injected.....

One of the machines used in the manufacture of small bubble(spirit) levels, that are inserted into larger tools, or not. My oh my I love the show How It's Made.

CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    Mark,

It seems very different today. I ran home home for lunch today, turned on TV and Family Feud was on. I was shocked at the responses, enough, that I had to double check if I was on the correct channel. It is an "implied undertone" society that sells.

This almost sounds like a spam thread.

Of course, since a 'Bubble Level' explanation on Wiki is free, it isn't spam. Instead, it is educational. Quiz tomorrow on bubble level theory.

Admittedly the name "Haeger model 412" is not very terrifying, but the the ad copy is pretty priceless in the context of this thread.

not sexy. but at our annual town meeting last year, there was a warrant article presented and voted upon by the populace to acquire a piece of equipment for the town highway department called a boom flail. Now, how cool is that? I felt that we should get one just on the basis of the name.

I guess it is an extended, articulated mower/bushwhacker for trimming along the roadsides... but the name conjures up images of explosions and lots of furtive... well... flailing. Or, perhaps, something medieval, you know, something to lay waste to ramparts and stuff?

The article passed, and the town now has a boom flail.

I remember spending some time with a ROD STRAIGHTENER a couple of weeks as part of my summer job at a steel factory when I was in college. A machine that basically brought down a couple of ton weight on a bent steel rod (you kept pushing the rod forward as it was hammered straight by the weight) that had been jackhammered loose from a core sand mold that was used to pour impellers for pumps (some for nuclear submarines).

We had to wear ear protection because it was LOUD! Now, I'm sure some members here could get some "mileage" out of that name, no?

How about our JLG 1500SJ Boom Lift. The name isn't scary, but the maximum reach of being in a 150ft boom can be. To top it off it's fully functional and will cruise at 2-3 mph at said height. For those who would like a demo, let me know. The other is our new John Deere Hyex for the military in sexy green and the 850J/1050J Dozer. Both kick a$$ machines, with armored cabs and 3.5" bullet proof glass for added protection.

I always enjoyed the Robot Wars construction "The Mangulator"

    http://robotwars.wikia.com/wiki/The_Mangulator

And I don't know it's name, but it shreds 50 engine blocks at a time. Absolutely amazing sound.

Off of Oldmodman video saw a link for the " Crambo 5000 ". Thought it might have been a sequel to a "Houston 500" video, but I was wrong. Same operating priciple, though, and pretty impressive, too. Shreds 2 tons of stump. :loneranger:

Long back story (which I'll spare you) but we had two acres of red pines removed from a piece of property we have in NH. The stumps were dealt with using a thing called a Brotosaurus. http://www.brownbronto.com/

I'd have loved to have seen it in action!
