As I understand that was one of the top of the line subs for the LSI line of speakers. I would however suggest you look for one with an amplifier thats been replaced. Bash plate amps work very well in them!

Mine blended in great with my LSi15s. However, I only use it for the occasional movie, and never for music.

I've done a lot of reading on them recently. I really like vintage stuff that just also happens to be huge and awesome. After all the reading, I came to the conclusion that the 1000 is really good for music, but could not dig down any further than 35ish hz, even after modding the port and a new amp. I want the best of both worlds so I'm just about ready to buy an SVS sub. I want it to do it all and do it well. The 1000 can be had for a great price when found, but its just stuff to keep in mind. Hope this helps!

I have alot of experiance with these in modified and stock form and really like them. I sold one (a modified one) to a fellow in chicago a few months back with a full LS1 15 Surround package and he has sold 2 more for me to people visiting his house, so it must sound good. If you can find one (like the one on here) in stock form for a decent price i would recommend it. Plus if you care about asthetics they are a really great looking speaker. Best of luck in your search for bass...

I've been running the PSW1000 in my 7.1 system for quite a few years now. As the specs show, it doesn't reach really deep, but within it's range it sounds really good, and is capable of pretty serious volume levels. I use it mostly for TV/movies, but have also done quite a bit of music listening with it. In my system it took very little effort to blend it with the 15's. It never draws excessive attention to it's self, just nicely rounds out the bottom end.

I would say there is no way you could go wrong for $325.

Yeah, this forum is a great resource for information. I don't know how we lived without the internet! Out of the 70 of these units I had i came across 2 that were cosmetically damaged beyond what i could sell and i ruberized those and put them under my deck to add some low end to my pool area. I took the legs off and can probably find them if you decide to get the unit for sale on the forum. They are the factory metal spike/rubber leg, and I would let you have them for shipping cost. I too was considering picking up that one, because my factory unit i test mine against just died, but the shipping from texas is too much since If im patient i can probably get the stock amp fixed. I am sure you will be very happy finishing out your LSI package with the

I have sold quite a few different configurations. BASH 300/500, Dayton 540/1000, Oaudio 500. I also tried to address the low end by changing to port to get the port tuning frequency to 34hz versus 45hz stock. 34hz with a 28hz subsonic filter on the new amp seems to be the magic combo. I just had the machine shop make some aluminum plates with 2 speaker terminals so i can try some passive units with rack amps. Keep in mind though that with the stock amp they sound fine, just missing some real low end. The issue is when you put an aftermarket amp on none of them have the aggressive subsonic filter settings of the stock amp so if your watching "the dark night" your going to hear all kinds of port noise. Changing the porting seemed like the logical fix to me since i didn't want to void the amp warranty changing resistors to achieve a 38hz subsonic filter. I will say that these boxes are really well built by polk and i do love how the opposing firing keeps them from walking all over. My Micropro's have similar performance and move all over the place.

I wouldn't worry about it. You can take a wedge and gently tap it in from the bottom between the wood side and the box and the wood will come off. Its held on with a few dowels and some adheasive simiilar to caulk. I took the sides off one unit that was damaged and plan to build myself a PSW1000 with custom rosewood sides to match my RT5000 package. I haven't finished the job because I am always testing units with my system, but as i get to the end of them i will probably make my personal one. I had acually thought about doing granite sides, but these things are already stupid heavy... The Ebony ones are pretty close (since my room is kinda dim) but i'd like it to match perfect, and being a 1off would be cool too. Anyways the woodworking is pretty easy to match if you have a router. The hardest part would be getting the stain perfect.

Yeah i bet with granite sides you would need a fork truck to move it. I refinished my lsi15s to match my tv stand they turned out pretty good. Maybe ill do the same with the psw1000.
