csi40
i have csi30 along with my rti38's as my mains. i would like to upgrade to a csi40 (especially after reading all the rave reviews) but don't know if the 40 will overpower my 38's. any recommendations? thanks.

Do it! The center channel handles approx. 70% of the sound track during a typical movie so having a good center channel is almost manditory.

Absolutely not! The CSi40 will blend in better in your system. You should get a good deal on that center right now because the new models are out.

I agree. As far as the 40 overpowering the 38's.... I seriously doubt it. If nothing else, it will more closely match the 38's in range (the 6.5" rather than the 5.25" mid of the 30). The 40 is slightly more efficient than the 30, 91dB as opposed to 90dB, but not enough you will likely notice. If you plan on doing it, I'd do it soon as these are getting scarce.Denon 3802

CSi40, hands down. The CSi30 is a very capable center channel, but the CSi40 is much more robust. I wouldn't quite go to the 70% mark, but the center does get the most channel information.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? i agree with everyone else, the 40 will do better and you should get one quick because the old line is getting tough to find. i had to go to a store 3+ hours away to get the FXi30's i wanted. the CSi40 is probably a bit easier to find but don't wait too long. -
thanks everyone. making the call to cructhfield right now! i'm pretty damn excited about getting the 40.

Good to see you've taken everyone's advice. I purchased the 40 a couple of weeks ago to go with my 38's. As others have mentioned, the 40 blends in much better for a seamless sound. At first I was going to get a CSi30 for my center channel to go with my RTi70's, but then I came to my senses and went with the CSi40, w/ the CSi30 taking the back seat (meaning a rear center channel, and a damn good one, too!).Mains: polkaudio RTi70's (bi-wired)
