center spkrs cs10 woes
hi,
i have built the following setup :-
front tsi300
center cs10
rear tsi100
subwoofer psw110
avr denon 1612
in some movies i'm finding that the center channel's voice is not crisp & loud.So will the cs20 be better than cs10 for dialog clarity ?
With tsi300 which one will be the better choice:- cs20 or csia4 ?
Is the upgradation from cs10 to cs20/csia4 worthy ?

I got a CS20 center for my setup with Monitor 10B's as fronts and Monitor 5Jr+'s as surrounds and love it! I had the CS10 before the 20 and felt the same way you do now, pretty much underwhelmed. I haven't regretted the upgrade to the 20 for a minute and don't feel any need to upgrade any further. The voices and soundtrack handling by it for TV and movies and when I use it for 5.1 channel SACD playing are all strong and crystal clear.
I haven't heard the CSiA4, so can't speak on that from personal experience, but I think you'd be very happy with the CS20's performance. Also, it would be the perfect style and timbre match for your whole TSi system. In time, you might even want to consider upgrading your fronts to the Tsi500s and use the 300s as surrounds with the 100s as rears (if you were gonna go 7.1). -

Another alternative is to upgrade the Xover (new caps and resistors) in the CS10. VR3 did that for a forum member here, who reported a dramatic improvement even before the new caps and resistors were burned in.

Hi,
Thanks to all of u for the advice.
Price of (RtiA3+ CsiA4) & (Tsi300 + Cs20) is almost same.
I have found that tsi300's sound is bit bright which is not soothing for hearing music.
So,I like to know whether (RtiA3+ CsiA4) package is better than (Tsi300 + Cs20) ? -
In general if you find the TSI tweeter "hot" or "bright", I doubt you'll find the RTI-A series less so as it will have more definition and detail and is generally considered a bit forward! I'm actually "surprised" to hear that you find TSI-300s bright on a Denon? Which is generally a warmish receiver?
Having said that. I have a set of Rti-A3s that I run on an older Denon AVR 2807 (when Denons still had some heft/power), and I find that combo to be less bright and forward. When you're using Rti-A speakers you should take care to find a good AVR that will not add to their natural HT quality.
Which is better? Only your ears can tell!
And welcome to Club Polk!

hi,
in some movies i'm finding that the center channel's voice is not crisp & loud.
Some movies are just recorded like that....crap. Other than that, have you tried turning up the center channel speaker level a notch or 3 ? Set it to large instead of small ? When you listen to music, are you using just 2 speakers or all of them ?HT SYSTEM-

yeah the problem is happening for some movies only(though HD & DTS).
I have turned the center to +5db(only slight improvement).
I have set the speakers as small(but setting as large also didn't help)
When listening music I am changing to stereo mode.
So from all of the experts like u here, I would like to know whether (RtiA3+ CsiA4) or (Tsi300 + Cs20) will be better.
Also I would like to know about the current settings in Denon.
I have set the xover freq. to 80Hz. And the bass settings to (LFE + Main [100Hz] )---Are the settings right? -
I like to experament , try a polk tri-lam tweeter in place of that fabric dome tweeter , used on ebay .There are other ways or buy another center .
On the polk forumn there is a chart that recomends a center for your mains ( check that )hi,
