I have moved my room around and my sub no longer sits close enough to plug into my main surge protector. I need a seperate one for just the sub. Just a single or double would suffice. I currently use a ps audio quintet which I find to be good so I figured maybe the Duet. Sadly they are a bit hard to come by now and possibly a little more than I need anyways.

Today I noticed my lights flicker once and my sub made a thump noise. My system wasnt even on so I'm assuming it came from the outlet

Can someone recommend a good surge unit for my sub that won't break the bank?

I am using a Monster sub surge protector. Just a little 2 plug deal that screws into an existing outlet (remove faceplate, screw outlet onto that)

Leviton surge outlets work well, too, if you don't want the thing sticking out of the wall:

You'll want to use a surge protector that does NOT use mov's. Mov's are sacrificial and often only survive one surge hit and need to be replaced and even if the power lights are still on that doesn't mean the mov is still intact inside the device.

An mov takes a surge and diverts it from the hot to the neutral which causes ground contamination and allows that surge to have a secondary chance to cause problems and travel to other equipment in your integrated system. If you're dumping the surge energy from the hot to the neutral it's also causing a common mode surge and harmful surges still get through to the connected equipment.

Companies that do not use mov's and use a superior surge protection technology called "Series Mode". Series Mode completely eliminates the surge. Companies that use Series Mode technology are listed below:

    SurgeX
    Brickwall
    Zerosurge

SurgeX is the best you can get, their devices are used in professional recording studios, at pro sports stadiums like Dallas Cowboys Stadium and Yankee Stadium but also at Carnegie Hall, govt buildings and at NASA to protect the uplink for the Hubble Telescope. They sell for anywhere from $230 up to $2000. They're also made in the U.S. in North Carolina where as the cheap APC/Monster/Panamax/Triplite are all made in China in undisclosed locations where it's very hard to find out about the quality control.
