LSi15 woofer out of phase

So, I just realized something.

As I'm looking at the schematics of the LSi15, the woofer is out of phase (+ and - are "reversed"). I'm sure this is a design feature, but it seems really strange to me.

Has anyone tried reversing the polarity on the woofer to get bigger bass from it? And how has that worked out? I don't really want to be the guinea pig here. :)

Anyone? Thanks.

Do you believe Polk intentionally wired to woofer out of phase to give you less bass?

Certain crossover topologies require a driver(or drivers) to be wired out of phase for flat response at x-over points, otherwise there would be a peak or null at the crossover point.

Ha, well, good question. Probably not. I'm not a speaker designer, so I really have no clue. It seemed strange, that's all. I'll quit worrying about it.

Is there a reason your wanting more bass from the lsi's ? What are you driving them with now ? Do you have a sub in the mix and if so what are they crossed over at ?

You guys are too cool. I think I had the same problem 99% of lsi15 owners have. Power.

I've gone from a POS Sony receiver, to a Rotel 100x5 amp, to an Outlaw 7500, to a bi-amped setup (with custom crossovers), to finally, now, a pair of Emotiva XPA-1 monoblocks (500W 8ohms, 1kw 4ohm). FINALLY. Finally, the bass is great. LSi15s are, as has been said a million times, just a humungous load for an amp.
