Lsi or lsim?

Hello everyone out there in polk world. I recently decided to put together a home theater system using polk audio speakers. Originally i wanted to go with the lsi series( since i could buy them from the polk store on e bay(refurbs). So i bought a pair of lsi f/x and a lsic. Next on my list was a pair of lsi25's ,lsi9's and another pair of ls if/x(9.2) then i started to wonder should i have picked the lsim series instead. To be honest, i've never had a chance to listen to the lsi m series. So i dont have a clue as to how they sound. And i know that it would cost me twice as much to put a 9.2 lsi m system together. I know that the lsi series has been discontinued. But the prices on polks e bay store make it hard to resist. So my fellow polk fans, can you give me some input? Should i stay with the lsi series? Or start over and get the lsi m? P.s. If i stay with the lsi series, should i get the lsi15's or lsi25's? I have 2 velodyne hgs 18's(overkill) that i'm planning to use with this set up. Thanks.....

    Being that you already have the center and fx. I would get the 15's and a good 5 channel amp.

    thanks, but im building a 9.2 system.so i will need more than a 5 channel amp...

    Indeed you will with a 9.2. If you have the dough for the LSiM series, go for it. Or get 2 for stereo 2 channel and use the rest of the LSi's in combo for 9.2.

    i was thinking bout going with integra's dtr70.4 reciever. but im not sure thats the way i would like to go...

    I have not heard the LSIM series, but regardless of how good they sound I just can't justify the extra expense. At least not right now. Upgrading never ends it seems. I have to slow myself down sometimes, and realize that just around the corner there is always something better...always. The Lsi's still continue to impress me, and I am always listening to other speakers. As a general rule I buy on the backside of technology advances to get the best prices. Maybe I will buy the LSIM's at blow out prices when the next latest greatest Polk speaker is invented!

    The lsim's are a big step up from the original LSI's for both music and home theater. The biggest improvement IMO would be the center. The LSIm 706 is a little brighter without being too bright and it creates a much bigger sound and sound stage than the previous version. But all of this comes at a cost of about 3 times the cost of the refurbs. I'd say do it if you have the funds. Shop around and you'll be able to get some good deals.

    I just got a pair of LSi25s and they sound amazing. I am looking to upgrade my amp, and I always buy on the downslope of tech as well. It's so much cheaper. I mean, Amazon has these speakers for 1/3 of the price they did when I started coveting them when they came out. I expect the same for the LSiM series.

    The LSiM's will be their retail price for at least 5-10 years (how long the LSi's lasted) if not more. I dont see their prices dropping anytime soon, so gobble up the LSi's while they remain low priced as once the inventory is totally gone, their prices will also increase to more than they are selling for now since there are a limited quanity at a given time at that point.

    Yeah, that's exactly what I was trying to say. Get while the gettin's good because they are great speakers even though they are older models. If you can get new ones under the 5 year warranty, then go for it because they sound amazing. Way better than my old and now sold Totems.

    You can find deals now. Paid $1999 for my 705's, that $1000 bucks of. Can get about 33% off the series.
