I'm new at this so bear with me, thanks. I could use help with home theater set up. I have a 13' x 18' room.Polk Audio RTI 12 towers, polk PSW 400W sub, Polk CS15 center, Polk RT14 rears and 2 Polk 65-RT in wall mount speakers. The rear speakers are on stands with a speaker height of 48".The seats will be about 10-12' from front wall;what height should the in wall speakers be at and how far from the front wall. The towers should be 2' from front wall and 32" from adjacent wall I think. The sub is self powered and receives signal from the amp,do I run speaker cable from the sub to the towers or do all speakers hook up to the amp .What are the speaker connections for on the sub?I would like to get the set up right, all help appreciated:confused::confused:

    Welcome to Club Polk!

Set up looks fine. Placement of Rti-12s is NOT fixed, it depends on your room and your listening position. You should experiment in two channel with "where" the 12s sound the best! That may take some time to figure out, don't be afraid to move things around a few times and listen for a while.

What are you using for an AVR? The Rti-12s will NOT sound their best run off AVR power "only". They benefit from a power amp!

Most AVRs have a SUB OUT. Your sub should have something like an RCA Sub IN or LFE in. Get a Coax digital cable running from the AVR sub out to the SUB IN (on the Polk).

What Polk sub do you have? A Polk DSWpro 400? Because I have no idea what a PSW 400W is? There is a PSW 404 but that's pretty old and no longer available.

Rear speakers should be a bit higher than ear level or so.

    Enjoy!

thanks for the help cnh. The sub is a psw404 but seems to work fine. The surround speakers that will be in wall mounted adjacent to seating should also be mounted just above ear level? Can you recommend good amp for the tower speakers?
