I couldn't figure out how to attach pics into specific locations in text, so I'm trying this using a pdf. Hopefully this works.

Looks like this worked!!! Sorry I couldn't post the article directly in the post, just couldn't insert the pics is specific locations like I wanted to. I think most of us have Adobe on our PC's, so please open the attached file, read and enjoy!!!

Very nice effort mufsoman! And you should be thanked for taking the time to write it up for the benefit of others!

Keep in mind with acoustic treatments that you want them to vary and not all be the same. You don't want to create a big difference at one area of the freq spectrum and leave other areas untouched. So differences in some hanging further away from the wall and others closer is probably a good thing. And you sound a bit like you don't feel done with treatments, so if you go further you should consider doing a few that are double depth so you continue to broaden the frequencies you absorb.

I would wonder if you'd agree that by the time you go to the effort of building and installing, that individual material costs isn't too much of an issue. So when your weighing another $50 or 100 in material costs to do it nicely, that kind of goes away by the time your done and you only want them to work well and look decent in your room! And by all means, involve your household expert in chosing the fabric...that's the long term measure they have on the success of the project.

    Good job!

That’s why I don’t, I bought all of my current gear based on technical parameters alone, such as specs and measurements."

Great job and nice write-up. This is all useful information for a project I hope to take on in the spring.

All good points CoolJazz. I am thinking of changing up the next round of panels, which will need to be thinner. But I'm also considering some bass management with corner traps, so ultimately it will be a collection of several different panels designs and hopefully frequency impacts. Thanks for the feedback!
