Parasound hca 800ll (being gone thur and cleaned, set up and tested by my tech.) will be hooked up to my adcom SLC505 passive pre, druving my polk (fully modded) 5jr+ speakers. Still cinsiderung the cd player and DAC. Should make a nice bedroom system. Thoughts??

That looks like a nice setup up, as Con. says above, it may be a little bass shy. I run full size 5As in a room that's 17' x 10' x 8.5' and the bass is "adequate" only!

What's the budget for CD/DAC? If it's tight, you might want to think about a CDP that also has DAC access (coax/toslink inputs), there are a number on the market that let you use the CDPs DACs if they are good enough?

I have a ton of vintage gear but the bedroom is SMALL (how big is yours?) so I just run a 2.1 Onkyo AVR Polk Rti-4 system in there; which is fine for my purposes. A small 8" 100 watt RMS sub picks up the low end nicely. But I use that mainly for DVDs and Blu-rays with the HDTV.

But you have some higher level gear there!

The 5jr+'s really dont need the help in the base since the recap was proformed, however this systen will not be used for "critical" listening, just background and evening listening in bed and in the morning getting ready for work and with the vido monitor in the slc505 may connect to the bedroom tv.

As far as DAC goes thinking of just letting the yammy and the adcom 700 pull double duty as the racks are side by side with my main sys. Listed below. Or if too lazy to keep switching rca's back and forth might just get a decent cdp with a fairly good built in DAC. Just dont know of one to fit the bill, agaun as for the intended use the cd isnt critical but..... U know how yhat goes. LOL i think the system is over and above for its intended use but again ..... No half measures at l

Get to pick up the HCA 800ll this afternoon. Tech is all done, all cleaned, bias set, outputs balanced, everything gone thru and ready to go! I think it will be nice for a small bedroom system.

Beats my bedroom system. I am running nothing more than a pair of RTi8's off of a HK stereo receiver. I have that hooked up to the HD DVR and listen to the music stations of a morning as I am getting ready for the day.

Just hooked up the parasound. First impreasions....not bad.....nor bad at all. Sounds better with the adcom pre in bypass though. May go back to a passive volume attenuator, or upgrade the volume pot in the adcom. Nice detail on the warmish side but very open sound stage.deff. need to go to 194's in the 5jr's though it really shows the sl2000's to be a little edgie.

Damn once this 800ll warms up! Holy crap its a lot nicer than i expected. Great base ( more and tighter than i was expecting) prob. due to the cap up grade (clarity sa caps ) i mean it not as dynamic as the 1200 with the 12c's but damn nice. I really like parasound amps, they seem to work nicely with the polk sound. Any one know of a componet A/B switch for my cd and DAC so i don have to keep changing the cables. Sounds so good i would like to keep it doing double duty with my main system( they set right next to each other in matching bello stands?)
