    Thanks for the heads up! What is it with meteor showers and sunrise, do they have to milk the cows or do they just abhor the "real" NIGHT LIFE? I'll probably be sleeping through this one, I suspect! Too bad. I need to be one of those 85+ year old guys who can only sleep 4 hours a night and gets up every hour to pee in order to catch this? lol

    Guess I'll just have to wait until I'm almost dead to see one!

    I have a few good excuses for missing them.

    I'm in Los Angeles and the sky is brighter than the average living room.

    It's going to be cloudy.

    I'm too old to get up that early.

    My neighborhood sky is fairly light polluted, which knocks out visibility of most of the fainter meteors,
    but the forcast is for clear skies except partly cloudy from 1-3 am, so I'll give it a go this year.

    I went out and saw one last night/this morning, it would have been bright enough to see in all but the brightest areas, hoping for more like that tonight.

    I turn out for these affairs all the time. They are extremely anti-climactic and disappointing every time.

    I watched the east sky for a short period about 11 pm, and for about 15 minutes after midnight, but only (probably) saw 1 faint one in the northeast which wasn't
    even aligned with the radiant. I was too tired to stay up later and try again.

    Went out with a friend for a couple hours starting around 4:30am and didn't see much. I had gotten my hopes up and we were both pretty disappointed. I think we'll try again with the Geminids in December.

    My best meteor shower experience was about 15 years ago with the Geminids at
    Phantom Ranch at about 3 am (cabins and lodge at the bottom of the Grand Canyon;
    you can only get there by mule or hiking).
    We saw about 15-20 per minute for about a half an hour and then they went
    down to a few per minute. Of course, the sky was really dark there,
    and we lucked on to a very active peak.
