Hey Carl! Ed has nice stuff too! Does it look like this inside with the phono boards? Do you recall what high gain was for MC? I could also do balanced in with the cartridge. In other balanced pres I've owned that usually boosted the gain of the phono stage by a few dB or more. We shall see if this nudges me back into all SS again. Was there once with some nice jfet design Coda preamp and phono stage. My new DAC is balanced out, my current pre isn't. I'm confident the linestage is good, but I'm partial to the ModWright phono stage.

The board on the right with the red dip switches and the silver caps is the phono board.

I can't remember the gain on the phono, maybe you can find a manual online. You will like it. The inside is a piece of art. Packed with descrete components, not a chip in there. The phono board was designed to stack nicely over the PCB below it. Look at the heat sinks on the transistors, the size of the transformer, solid build. Enjoy!!!

No worries gentlemen. The krell pre comes with two manuals. 1 for the pre and 1 for the phono board.

It's a discrete class A design. All the current created by that big transformer has to be dissipated somewhere.

That Krell seriously has the prettiest insides I have ever seen on a preamp. These are all great pieces in their own rights, but...wow. Grats, SCompRacer.
