HDMI over Wireless?

Greetings!

Anyone have any experience with HDMI over Wireless devices?

I got a side job doing some upgrades to a media room. The current projector is using component video, and the new projector will of course be HDMI. Previous owners of the house ran RG-59 coax in the walls to the projector with no provisions to upgrade later (no conduit).

HVAC ducts are in the ceiling so trying to use the current cables as a pull won't work (no give on them) and I really don't want to tear open walls and the ceiling to run a HDMI cable. Using an on the wall raceway would look terrible.

Projector is going to be a Sony HW-30. I know Epson has the option for Wireless HDMI on their 50xx/60xx projectors, and there are a number of aftermarket devices available. Equipment cabinet and projector are in the same room.

I'm the type of person that much prefers wired connections but this situation makes cabling difficult without a huge mess. Unless I carefully cut a slit in the sheet rock and stuffed a Redmere HDMI cable in the wall and then patched it up. ??!!

Thanks!

I have seen a wireless kit by action tech. Its ok for temporary use, but I would never use it for permanent install. It had problems if people walked in front of either the sender or receiver. It would cut out and loose signal.

I would look into the kits to convert the hdmi in to cat-6. Then I would disconnect the coax from the wall plates and attach the cat-6 to the coax cable at one end and carefully pull out the coax. Coax isnt typically attached to anything in the walls and attic, so it should just pull out, and hopefully while doing so it will lay down the cat-6 for the hdmi in its place.

Spec'd out is right but if you mount both the sender and the receiver you should not have any probs. Its still loss less and easy to run a cable up higher to the sender than it is across a ceiling like you described

The media room is in the lower level of the house. There is no give on the coax. I get the feeling someone stapled it, or it's running at odd angles though the floor joists.

Given how someone wired the structured media box and the very limited number of phone, Ethernet and cable jacks around the house it wouldn't surprise me if the lines to the projector were stapled.

If I was able to use the coax lines as a pull I would go with the HDMI over CAT6 route since Ethernet cables are much easier to pull than a HDMI cable. There are heat and cold air return ducts in the ceiling between the media cabinet and projector.

The more I think of it, the more it's looking like I will have to open the ceiling a bit, drill holes in the floor joists and pull cables. Going that route at lest I could pull two HDMI and a couple of CAT6.
