When I went off to college at the University of Missouri in Columbia MO I was looking for some speakers for my apartment. At the local boutique audio shop I auditioned a pair of Polk Studio Monitor 4.6's Series II and loved them, in fact I still have them in my workshop. I later upgraded to RT1000p's and just recently upgraded those to LSi25's. Along the way I picked up a basic Polk 5.1 system and another pair of monitors. Still dreaming of an SDA-SRS system and one day will find a pair close enough I hope. Along with their excellent customer service and striving online community I'm hooked for life.

My dad gave me one of his older integrated amps and I had to pick up some speakers. Just a low budget system at first. Bought a pair of Sony towers from Circuit City. Nothing special. Same month, Polk started selling R50's for cheap and bought a pair from Fry's. My amateur ears loved the Polks so I returned the Sony towers.

Then came this forum and got me hooked. Several years have passed and I have gone through RTi's and now have a bunch of LSi speakers. Much better equipment too. Original R50's sadly given a co-worker for his budget system. Not sure what ever happened to him since he no longer works for the same company. Probably loved them as much as I that it cost him his job, marriage, and who knows what else. Polk knows how to sell. First hit is cheap, and then you are hooked. What a ride though.

A pair of SDA-CRS at Audio Emporium in Tucson in the mid-eighties. I couldn't afford them at them time but I used to go in to the listening room all the time and listen to Heartbeat City by the Cars. I fell in love immediately, nothing else even came close. I started with Monitor 4's, then went to 5 Jr's, then 5's and finally SDA-2A's. I did end up getting a pair of CRS's - and I still listen to Heartbeat City on them.

I live near a Crutchfield outlet store, and went there about years ago for a basic HT system. They had the Rti-10s for $375 a pair (scratch and dent), so I picked a pair up after talking to a few people on here. I ended up adding a Csi-3 and and some Fxi-3's from Bruss.

Still have the same setup, so it was a good investment for sure!

My infatuation started with my dad's sony 3-way tower speakers and decided i wanted an awesome surround sound so after extensive research i always came back to compare with Polk and Polk won hands down every time. Needless to say i still am using my dad's 3-ways but i have upgraded everything else to the whole RTIa line. Couldn't be any happier. Now if i could just get my hands on those A9's and a new AVR and amplifier :)

    PIONEER 1021-K--7.1 Reciever

QUALITY AND PRICE!!! I have the RTi-A1 (cherri) and I am very happy.

PS: The only thing I did to the speakers was to "ADD" more http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=260-317 and the sound went from good to amassing!

What really got me hooked on polks was i went to buy a 20.00 subwoofer off a guy 50 miles away. Got there and he lived on a golf course. It was a 300watt brand new and nobody wanted to buy it because he didnt know model number. Not a blemish on it----then i eyed the SDA2b's just sitting there. He said he wouldnt sell them--i left and i emailed him for 2 days-then he called me----i went back in our Toyota Yaris and would you believe they fit in there. I was hooked on Polk Audio then--since i have strayed some. But have always had polks in the house. And as time goes on i will have more polks to add to my gear..i have a wish list

What really got me hooked on Polk wasn't my RTiA9's that I owned (A league of their own and awesome at what they can do with POWER), it was my current 3.1TL's and the discovery I made with them. As such, these are speakers that will never be sold, ever. They will be modded to the nines and will always have a spot in my home. I think its a great feeling when a 27 year old loves 20+ year old speakers more than anything in the chain. The next generation keeps the history moving forward.

The high end systems like the SRT and RT5000 really drew me in. Back then I could only drool at those systems but today the used prices might make it a reality one day. For now my RT800i, CS400i, F/X500 combo will do!

I bought my first pair of Polks (Monitor 4's) in 1981 from a small neighborhood store (where I had previously bought a Hitachi cassette deck) with savings from my summer job; these were my college speakers for 4 years! I was so blown away by them I bought a pair of Monitor 10B's in 1985 (along with a Harman-Kardon cassette deck) with my signing bonus from my first job after graduating college. I loved THEM so much I traded a friend my old Philips stereo amplifier (which I upgraded to my first Yamaha surround-sound amp) for his pair of Monitor 10B's in 1989 (that he had bought because he liked mine so much)!

After almost 25 years I have replaced the tweeters with RDO-194's and re-built the cross-overs in all four Monitor 10B's; they sound better than ever! I only hope I get another 25 years of enjoyment out of my trusty old Polks.

Sony ES CD player, Mod Squad Line Drive passive attenuator, Nakamichi STASIS power amp, Polk Audio SRS 1.2 loudspeakers. This was somewhere around 92. I went out the next week and purchased a pair of Polk Audio LS-50s that are still like new and that I still listen to on at least a weekly basis.

I went to hook up my infinity sm bookies after they were in storage for 10 years, only to find they were dry rotted. I went on ebay and found my r300's for $100ish shipped from polk. That started it all, went through the following speakers over the last two years: r300, monitor 70, r150 (tweeter bad in 70's, needed speakers), monitor 50, rti10, rtia1, rt25i, lsi7, lsi15. I have another set coming in this weekend, not saying what just yet.

This thing sounds outstanding!! Needed to try Polk Audio home since I loved a pair of MOMO subs I use to own years ago..

I have always been fascinated with sound. When I was in my teens, I had built a few pairs of speakers and had experimented with phasing opposite channels to cancel cross talk. Then I read an article about Polk Audio and the Stereo Dimensional Array speakers. Then I found out that they were based in Baltimore, my home town. There were many trips to Stansbury Stereo in Dundalk to listen to the Polks until I could afford my own. By then, Stansbury became Bryn Mawr and I bought the RTA-11TL's.

My first Polk,s were the RTiA7's I picked up for the start of my HT system and I also found this forum when I registered them. Finished my home theater and started to become intrigued with the SDA's that everyone on to the forum was talking about. Found a pair of 2.3's locally and my mind was blown with the sound that came out of these. Still getting all of the mod's completed but these will stay with me till I can no longer hear music!

A friend of mine, Jim Dellasandro, whom is no longer with us (died at 55 / post here http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?105662-a-great-loss-this-past-Monday&highlight=jim+dellasandro )

I used to go over Jimmy's and he would be jammin something on his old two speaker set up.
He had two small polk bookshelf speakers and I think an Onkyo or Denon, or maybe both, one at a time, who knows.
I do remember the speakers though, not the model, just that they were polks.
They were so loud and so clear, they were awesome.
He had the large Scranton, PA style duplex, where they had 12 foot or higher ceilings, houses built in the 40's, huge, 4 or 5 floors per level and large ceilings and rooms all over.
Me, at the time, as long as it didn't crackle, was good enough.
At the time, I had a couple of big AR towers, hooked to a cheap Pioneer, and kept blowin the tweeters, as I was a rookie, even moreso at the audiophile entry point.

Well, I am glad I jumped to polk, and am here until I, too, am taking my dirt nap.

My first polks were the Monitor 60's and PSW10 in my sig, below.

Thanks Jimmie, and thanks polk !

Mid-1980s and a former college roommate told me about Polk offering tremendous bang for the buck. I was living in Concord NH and there was a shop called New England Audio (which lasted a long time but finally closed a few years ago) with a very generous upgrade policy - upgrade within a year and they'd apply whatever you paid for the older speakers toward the price of the new. I wasn't exactly rolling in dough so I started with the Monitor 5JRs, upgraded to 5s and then to the 7s (7C I think?) that are still my mains today. Love 'em and am looking for more vintage Polks now for secondary systems I plan to build.
    Main HT (family room): Polk Monitor 7 (1987-original owner) (L/R) / CSi40 (C) / RTi38 (SL/SR) / SVS 20-39PC (sub), Outlaw 975 pre/pro / Outlaw 7075 amp, Oppo BDP-93 Blu-ray, LG 42LM5800 teevee
    2ch (family room): CRS+ (1987), Outlaw 1050 AVR, Denon DCM-420 CD
Kitchen satellite 2ch: Polk M3II, Topping TP-20 Tripath amp fed from 975 rec line out
Home office: Model 5 (1978-Danish Peerless), Lepai 2020A+ Tripath amp fed by laptop dock
Awaiting assignment: PSW202 (NIB) to be wired inline in home office rig; Monitor 5JR (1988), Model 4 (1983-US Peerless)

My first Polk speaker purchase was by accident. I bought a used pair of SDA-2B's from the original owner for $300. I didn't know what I was buying but quickly found out. I still have them and have since purchased monitor 7's out of Virginia and Monitor 10's out of Kansas.

I remember it well. It was 1994, and i was at a local audio store ( audio video enviroment). The salesman demoed a pair of polk audio ls 90's for me. And after hearing them, i was hooked! Though at the time i could'nt afford the ls 90's. So i got the ls 50's.
