Infinity Betas
I am now considering the IRS Betas  . Any owners, past or present, care to share their opinions vs. the big Polks? If I do somehow decide to get them, I would have to sell my fantastic 2.3tl's and hope they would better them by alot.

Having lived with 2.3tl's and having heard Betas in a very good setup, with better gear than I has running my SDA's with at the time, I would be able to say stick with whet you've got.The Gear... Carver "Statement" Mono-blocks, Mcintosh C2300 Arcam AVR20, Oppo UDP-203 4K Blu-ray player, Sony XBR70x850B 4k, Polk Audio Legend L800 with height modules, L400 Center Channel Polk audio AB800 "in-wall" surrounds. Marantz MM7025 stereo amp. Simaudio Moon 680d DSD

Wasn't there something about their overoad protection circuitry possibly having a negative effect on the sound?
I dug up the review that was mentioned in...the issue being you had to go in and bypass, (not user selectable) and stereophile was not able to test them with the protection circuitry connected.

Might be nothing but I remember stuff like that.
I was and still am an Infinity fan, still have a pair of 5000A's in the shop system at work. (I am used to refoaming them every 10-12 years or so too). I fully understand your having to give up to get, but would never sell what I am happy with on a hope. I'd look into trying to find someone with a pair to hear. Maybe stalk someone at an Infinity forum.:biggrin:Salk SoundScape 8's * Audio Research Reference 3 * Bottlehead Eros Phono * Park's Audio Budgie SUT * Krell KSA-250 * Harmonic Technology Pro 9+ * Signature Series Sonore Music Server w/Deux PS * Roon * Gustard R26 DAC / Singxer SU-6 DDC * Heavy Plinth Lenco L75 Idler Drive * AA MG-1 Linear Air Bearing Arm * AT33PTG/II & Denon 103R * Richard Gray 600S * NHT B-12d subs * GIK Acoustic Treatments * Sennheiser HD650 * -
I have had RS1B's and Gammas. Both were great. I also had pretty good amps and sources as well. I loved the Infinity sound, but I like my current Polks too. Maybe the Betas would be too much for my listening area. From what I can remember, the Infinities had better imaging and wider soundstage. Maybe I should update my x-overs and see what happens. I already have gimpods boards here waiting. Tommorrow, I get an Aragon 4004 mkII deliverd. Currently using an Acoustat TNT200 and Nikko Beta 40 preamp.Jeff

Speaking from purely no experience in the matter. I've heard the SDA's before. But I'd really like to hear some Beta's beside SDA's! Just from reading alone I would think the Beta's would clean house.--Gary--
