Here's my first official thread.

I'm looking to build my version of the SRT Seismic System and would like all the input you can give me (suggestions, warnings, nothing is too small or too big) from every current, and past owner of the various versions of this iconic system. I've got an ideal of what I want to do, and need to know any and all pitfalls/landmines, and even bonuses I need to be aware of as I search for all the components.

Please keep me in mind if you're selling yours!!

Thank you, and I look forward to all of your comments!

P.S.

Pitfalls....replacement parts, especially the control box which is hard to come by. Many have owned the SRT system here, some still do, and some have moved on with no regrets. What has you focused so much on the SRT's ?

    Hi ESavinon,

And, thanks for addressing me so quickly! I do not have any system. I know practically nothing about setting up a system, and am essentially as much of a beginner as one can be. I have no hang-ups about admitting it. But, at the same time, there is no need for me to be forced to publicly air it either. The sooner I establish this lack of knowledge, the sooner I can correct the shortcoming.

From what little I understand, my impression is, is that you are the #1 authority on the SRT System on this forum. I see that I have 5 out of the required 10 posts done before I can PM anyone. So, depending how things progress for me with this new forum experience (which so far sucks), I hope to just PM with you when I'm eligible and if you're willing to accommodate me. Which I would very much appreciate.

What I would like to know? I signed up with this forum for 2 reasons

    1. To have access to viewing the "for sale" area which is now closed to me until 100 posts are reached.

    2. To read posts by and possibly contact the experienced veterans of the SRT System with questions, tips, and avoid problems before coming to them.

Seemingly very simple stuff, right? But, just read some of the lovely comments by a few who are threatened by my directness, and the one's who encourage them by laughing and their "+1," it may be an up hill problem. I'm just as cordial as the next guy. But, the need to tip-toe around in text form because an unknown number of people are hyper-sensitive children, is just plain unnecessary. Especially when I was under the impression I was in a forum dealing with sophisticated adults.

Speaking of lovely comments, for those of you that missed his very first post here.....
This is a MASSIVE, MASSIVE PAIN in the A$$. How's that for my first post! I'm in the market to build what I'll call an "SRT Seismic PLUS" system, and having to essentially write, "I WILL NOT TALK IN CLASS" 100 times but much worse, is the poorest way to control a spam problem. Which is how I'm interpreting this to be.

What's to stop an a$$hole from posting only one, single letter, "z" in a post, and repeating that 100 times?? Writing/posting is something I've never liked nor done. So, now I've not only got to pay $$$ for the products I'm looking for, but I also must WASTE MY VALUABLE TIME for the "privilege" to buy "used gear." AND, hard-to-find "used gear" at that.

Tell ya what, since you appreciate directness......go eff yourself, the horse you rode in on and the Colonel that sent you.

Then instead of complaining and moaning about your valuable time and how the forum wastes it and does not appreciate your directness and how you are a good guy, well, maybe a saint, say, Saint Seismic, you might of taken a whole different approach. Nobody has any SRT for sale, they rarely do, very rarely, so your ranting is of little matter. In fact it is more likely you will have a 1000 posts before you might see someone part with them and then considering your initial statements I doubt they will sell them to you. You don't get it yet, this forum is not about selling and making money, most of these guys know each other, and rare items usually don't even hit the flea market.

So your on corner time. Ask your questions they will be answered, however, if you want to show up and tell us how to run our forum, don't like the rules and so on...well, you already know.

Have a nice day their Saint Seismic.

    Hello, goodbye.........

Thanks for posting saint's first post. I was about to welcome said Saint until I read that. Sorry Saint Seismic, you simply are too immature to get much help here with an initial hello fail.

Usually you first meet people, say,
"Hi, how are you?" or something like that. If you come in slapping people silly and shooting guns in the air then insulting people, you have every right to complain to yourself.

In case you change your attitude (wrong latitude?), then welcome to Club Polk. I've never heard of this srt seismic system. I doubt it is my cup of tea, but it does sound interesting.

Hi everyone. This place looks like to only place I found to learn about polk and the srt. Great!! My first question is this. I saw a guy online selling a sda. And for his center channel speaker he had wired 2 pretty large bookshelf speakers, maybe they were small normal tower types, together to work as 1 speaker for his center channel.

Finally my question is, would it be possible to wire 2 srt main towers (sub and top) together to have 2 left channel working as one and two right channel wired together working as one? So you would have 4 speakers total in the front working as 2?

Would this work and would the special qualities of the srt system still function? Thank you.

Why would you (or anyone for that matter) want to do this? I'm having a hard time taking this question seriously, for one anyone that would own two sets of SRT's would know enough about them and this question would never surface..

In short: waste of time IMO..

Yes in regards to to srt. Nope I don't have an srt. I don't understand some of the grumbling. So no one can answer to this? Can something like this be done? Esavinon you're an srt expert right? Can this be done and would it do something interesting, do nothing different or stop the original qualities from working? thanks.

Searching1 - If you haven't learned yet, you can't ask "Yes" or "No" questions here if you want an adequate answer. Some people here tend to forget that they too were noobs at one point.
