So, my family will be growing larger by one in June 2013...
The not so cool part, I'm looking at getting rid of my office. That means no 2ch system.
IF I get rid of my office, I will be making the HT a real double duty system. The LSi 9's, HCA-1500A and Debut Carbon would move in.
Both of my current Marantz players would be gone and I would be looking at something higher in the food chain. My trouble is, do I go for the SA8004 or the UD7006/7? I don't watch a ton of Blu-Rays now, but I do like the Universal nature of the UD. However I also like the built in DAC function of the 8004.
Anyone have some ear/face time the UD's from Marantz (or similar)? The DV7006 I have is a DVD based universal and it's very musical. That's huge for me since it will be playing music 80% of the time...
I may just say F*** it all and keep my office and 2ch system. But I could use some suggestions.

I would rather have one unit in the HT.
My DV7600 would be a keeper if it was more reliable. It has issues playing CD's. No problem with SACD or DVD, just CD's. Sometimes it plays them no problem (like now, knock on wood) and other times it refuses to even read the disc.
I love my CD5004 as well, but if I'm going to have one system, SACD is a must. -
Congrats, Max! Personally, I could never see myself with one system. But, then again, I have the space: (basement room, 2nd floor office, first floor HT). Just the teenage daughter left at home, son out of college and working in Boston. So I'm probably not one to "advise". I have at "least" one if not "more" systems in each of those spaces plus my 2.1 system in the bedroom! Then there's also the "vintage" stuff (which is almost an addiction at this point?).
SACDs. I have an old Yammie player for that. OK but not top tier. But, I'm also unable to spend a small fortune on this format (prices are steep and I hope to send my daughter to a top tier University or Liberal Arts college (top 20, if not top 10, that is!).
Do you have other children?

I have one daughter now that's approaching 2 years old.
I fooled around with putting the 2ch system in the pool table room, however that put some tweeters and tubes in danger of an errant pool cue...
I did think about selling off the pool table to make room for the system. My wife shot that down quick. However, she had to finally admit that she liked the table a lot more than she has ever let on. Now she can't hold the fact that I have one over my head anymore! -
I can identify with the pool table issue. My daughter wants one in the unfinished part of the basement (actually a gaming room) so that she and her H.S. friends can hang out down there, unfortunately for me, that means "I" have to finish the basement (put up a wall, put in a floor and a ceiling--the electrical work is already in courtesy of the previous owner). Oh well!
Tables are nice! Both pool and turning varieties! I have a non-working DUAL collecting dust in that very area. lol

Not A Marantz fan at all and I know Matt Polk has had nothing but problems tho' he loves the new SACD model. I don't know the model number. I'd say move on hoss.
MarkCTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
Congrats. Could turn that second system into a bedroom system, or a dining room system. okay off topic now why is bedroom a word, while living, family and dining room are two words????

Mark
I've been doing some further looking into the UD models from Marantz and I'm hearing a lot of quality issues.
As much as I love the Marantz sound myself, the reason I'm looking for another player is because the dv7600 is having an issue nobody can seem to figure out.
I just don't think I trust another Marantz player for the long haul...
