Player advice needed

I just inherited my father's vinyl collection of around 6000 records. I have no clue as to what I'm looking for to start with. Today I just moved them into my place and tomorrow I plan to start organizing and looking them over.

Which players should I look into? I would like to keep the budget below $350 right now as I am still relatively new to vintage and analog gear. I will be running them through a Yamaha C4/M4 setup powering DQ10's and DQ1w's with their crossovers. Right now I have my squeezebox touch hooked up to it.

I found some Technics SL-1200's for around 450 and was wondering if that was worth going for or if there is something better within that price range.

    The Technics 12xx series are nice and very durable tables, you just need to make sure they were not in a DJ setup and "overused" in any way. If you want to look at new then there are some entry level Rega, Pro-Ject, and Music Hall tables in the $350 to $499 range that make a nice starting point into analog. The Yamaha C4 should have a phono input per the online manual I was able to access so that part should be in good shape for you.

    I ended up picking up a technics SL-7 for really cheap.

    Won't let me edit my posts but I just dug up from my dad's garage an earlier this evening. AR EB101. Which of the two would be better to use? They seem very different from each other.

    Oh my:eek: the AR EB101, he knew his machines and wanted to protect his collection, you may have more $$$$ than you think take your time research and be careful

    I unfortunately can not view that thread :( I am short 50 posts.

    I don't plan to sell anything, I have a lot of old gear from my dad who's moved on to other equipment. I just have to take the time to sort through it all. That's actually where I got the DQ-10's and most of my equipment outside of my HT. Just digging through the garage. I am having a hard time finding a lot of information on the EB101 and SL-7.
