Magnetic Shielding - My sub is unsheilded. How far away should it be placed?

I have a Polk PSW10 sub. It is not magnetically shielded. I understand this can be a problem for computers and screens. I need to know how far away I should keep these items apart.

If your screen is doing funny things . . . it's too close.

This was mostly an issue with old CRTs. It is not an issue with LCD screens. Like said above the effect is pretty obvious and permanent damage takes a while, so if don't see anything weird, you are fine.

Does it have any affect on the computer? The could be within 8 inches of the computer.

No, there are worse things inside your computer.

Giant magnets and hard drives do not mix. Unless you like disappearing/corrupted data:cry:
Make every effort to be sure the speaker magnet is a good distance away from any hard drive.
8 inches from hard drive to magnet is probably NOT enough space. I would play it safe and keep it at least 18 inches away. No sense in tempting fate with someone inadvertantly knocking it closer...

go to support at the top of this page, go to product manuals, and read what polk would suggest for your sub, if you follow all literature on proper use, you should have little to no problems
